OT - The Rifleman Pub
« on: Wednesday 01-Jul-2020, 09:26* »
Quins local pub... The Rifleman, Fourth Cross Road, Twickenham wil not be opening this Saturday

Statement from the pub...

Due to a combination of factors including uncertainty over required track and trace info and our suppliers not managing to get our orders to us in time we won’t unfortunately be opening this coming Saturday the 4th.

We’ll let you know which day it will be as soon as we know.

I have heard that there are other pubs not opening as well.
One mentioned was the Barmy Arms - but I can't confirm.

there's a few not opening quite yet, according to their websites. you can add The Albert, The Blutcher, Eel Pie to that list.

The only ones I know taking bookings are The Sussex & Brouge at the Goat.

So summary so far:    ???=guess

Opening:
Prince of Wales
Ailsa
The Sussex
Brouge at the Goat
St Margaret's Tavern  (???)

Not opening:
The Albert

The Eel PIE

"Our brewery are phasing the reopening of all their sites, starting with larger countryside venues and evaluating as they go. Realistically I don’t see us opening until late July or early August."

No, I won't be there on Saturday.
The Richmond athletic association is opening on Saturday and I am popping down there. (I am also a member at Richmond). But, I am eager for pubs like the rifleman to reopen.
I feared that many pubs wouldn't survive the lockdown (along with other small local businesses). I have been trying to do my bit and buy drinks from the Sussex and Twickenham Fine Ale brewery.

Oops meant POW. Hope SB survives this at the Rifleman. Walked passed today and the flower baskets outside put Kew Gardens to shame. Won’t be long now.

I spoke to the bar manager of The Rifleman on Saturday. He says they plan to open on Monday 13th July. They have to get rid of their 8 seater tables in the garden in order to comply with social distancing first.
