OT Tuilagi not going to France shock
« on: Wednesday 13-Mar-2019, 13:13* »
In the least surprising news since Theresa losing a Brexit vote...

Tuilagi isn’t going to France in a World Cup year and jeopardising his last chance of winning one - he’s signed a two year deal with Tigers.

Can’t remember which thread this nonsense appeared in - but there we are, it was nonsense.

Why would he go, he's just bought a new house? :)

Not sure where the fantastic loyalty is. He used the offer (made up or otherwise) to leverage the deal he wanted. Why would he give up on the World Cup?

He could have had a contract structured to start after the world cup if he'd wanted to move abroad.

Who wouldn’t, that’s business. It’s a game he loves and a team he loves to play for, his home he has lived most of his life in. If money wasn’t even a thing in rugby then do you really think he’d choose a French team over Leicester. There is loyalty and I can’t blame him for getting a good pay deal out of it. Plus there’s the World Cup and dreams of doing more with England

Lets just hope he can stay injury free.

Oh, and dumb incidents free too.

I still don't get where praising his loyalty comes in. He got the deal he wanted so he stayed.

If he didn't get the cash he'd have moved. Wonder how he'll enjoy the Championship....

So players can only be loyal if they get deals they don't want? You can't be saying that but you sure make it sound like you are. What do you think shows loyalty by a player to a club?

Blimey.

Ok. He was either offered lots of money by France and turned it down for less money because he's loyal. Or they matched what he was offered by France to stop him going. Or there was never a firm offer from France and it was his agent negotiating more cash from Tigers.

But it was you who defined his loyalty by the deal, not me. I asked how we can tell anything about his loyalty from his contract.

Oh. So Mike Brown was possibly not loyal turning down those supposed offers from France?

Huh?

That isn't a logical sequitur.

It was suggested that Tuliagi is loyal because of the contract after rumours he was off.

I'm just asking how that's true?

All we know is he's staying.
