SIB thank you for your post much appreciated-  perhaps blucherquin keyboard warrior might now reconsider his despicable post and apologise for his insults to the services. If he is not minded to do so its time he withdraw from this site.

TW it wasn’t just directed at him, but get your point
Don’t like tarring everyone with the same brush no matter what the circumstances
There has been trouble in the past, but A&N have made a lot of changes to try and alleviate problems caused, by moving other fixtures etc.

Yeah there’s no getting away from the fact that in the past this fixture has seen a disproportionate amount of unacceptable behaviour vs other fixtures at Twickenham. That said i know a number of people that go and have a great time without causing any issues whatsoever and tarring all with the same brush is unhelpful and unnecessary.

. A lot has been done, moving the Kneller hall games to Friday played elsewhere, earlier kick off, bars closing pre match and closing earlier after the game.  Those that cause trouble are an embarrassment to the Forces and If caught are severely dealt with. In some ways the day has got too big and a lot of those who attend are neither forces or ex forces, I know this because a lot of civilians I’ve played rugby with over the years attend.

I'm Ex-Royal Navy (Marine Engineer Mechanic). The picture SIB just posted has just made me 'well up'.

I was working at the Stadium on Saturday (and Sunday) Army Navy as an Honorary Steward/Supervisor. I/we saw minimal problems inside 'the bowl'. Just before KO at 14:00 a young serviceman in his 30's was wheel-chaired into my area, West Stand L5. He was smiling, joyful, his face was a pleasure to see, joking with his present serving squaddie mates whilst discussing the joy of being with his mates after a year.................. He had both legs amputated!

The smile in my eyes turned to tears!

Now go tell this bloke he's a drunken thug, violent, abusive, crapping and pissing in the street.

I dare you!

Your freedom to sit behind the safety of your keyboard and make offensive and inaccurate comments is protected by the very people who attended yesterday. It was a great game and event. 80k there with many families and children including mine who had a great time and saw no trouble.

Ok mate don’t pull the “they protect you” rubbish.

Actually that’s the police, the law and the consent of the public - and the army navy game requires more police and involves more law breaking than any other fixture.

And it’s not generally serving squaddies who cause the trouble - because they’d get in the crap with mod plod.

Like the 7s, which has now been sorted, the fixture has got out of control - hence more police, changed kick off times, early pub closures.

So let me get this right, because some of those attending the match have lost friends in a war - it’s fine for others to **** in my garden?

Again - what’s that got to do with it?

Are you again claiming the high levels of anti social behaviour are acceptable because of this?

And yeah, if he was an aggressive thug crapping in the street it wouldn’t bother me what he’s done before.

You’re trying to negate a perfectly valid view by using an irrelevant comparison.

I’m sure a vast number of people at the fixture are heroic and lovely.

But the fixture has become a disgrace and lots of residents dread it - not a nice position to be in.

Same as the 7s - mainly posh young students who I’m sure wouldn’t normally trash a town centre - but it created a massive issue and now has been sorted.

Good to see that you don’t now think they are all anti  social violent louts as previously stated

Lots has been done to change what happens on the weekend, as others have mentioned

How many arrests where there on Saturday for anti social behaviour?

Having started the anti-social behaviour debate last week, I think it's only fair to say that - from what I saw on Saturday - there was much less bad stuff to report than I've seen in previous years.

I was out in central Twickenham and by the river with young family members visiting from the Midlands. Apart from a line of blokes urinating in York House Gardens, everyone seemed well behaved and in good spirits. The atmosphere seemed much less aggressive than I've seen before. Fair play.

Just to add to the mix I had to drive through Richmond on Sat and sore lots of drunk people falling over and throwing tghings at each other shock scared my daughter who spent that part of our journey covering her eyes so she doesn’t have to see it. It didn’t look good

A work colleague happened to be in Twickenham for an event Saturday - she arrived at 0930 and said the train stank of booze and there was someone vomiting on the road outside at 1000.

She said it’s what she expected from “rugger buggers”, which is a shame.

Looks like extra policing and warnings may finally have worked - but that it should come to that isn’t great.

Also that she thinks that’s rugby - I tried to disabuse her of the idea.
