No worries. Just weird that someone wants to pretend that happened - why? (Not you, but whoever reinvented it)

A spokeswoman for the RFU said "significant steps" were taken "to improve this event including reduced licensing hours, earlier kick-off and bar closures plus no games before the main match".

She added that "behaviour at this year's match was better than previous years".

"We will have a full debrief of this event with the police and the council as we do every year and will look at every complaint individually," she said.

The Met Police said [only] four people were arrested [out of 82,000] for offences which included assault and public order related matters.

Time to move on aye?

Behaviour “at the match” better.

Outside not better.

Arrests does not equate to trouble.

You don’t get arrested for the stuff that makes the fixture a nightmare.

So yes time to move on - as the council says - time to move the fixture on to somewhere else.

[The match was played at Queen's Club until 1914. After the First World War the first match was hosted by Twickenham in 1920 and the game has been played there ever since.]

Just out of interest, when did you buy/rent your home near the Stadium?

Blimey I’m only repeating the council’s line - they’ve said it should move if they can’t give assurances on less aggro.

That’s a lovely attempt.

But unlike moving near Heathrow and complaining about planes - you’ll be well aware that the history of bad behaviour at this match only ties into its rapid recent expansion.

And we’ve been here a lot longer than that.

Also that’s probably of little comfort to the woman who got hit by a bottle in St Margaret’s and ended up in hospital - or should she have accepted it because the fixture pre dated her decision to walk down a road nowhere near the stadium?

The attempt at the old “Heathrow was there before you moved next to it” approach, which is normally exactly what I’d say too.

Look I think we’ve probably thrashed this out as far as we can - and indeed much further.

A lot of residents and now the council think drastic action is needed to fix the behaviour and trashing of Twickenham that happens because of this match.

It’s a great shame for the vast majority who attend - but it’s not right, and way outside the tolerable limits for knowingly moving to a town with a national stadium in it and living with the upsides and downsides of that.

British Army vs British Navy, can it not be moved to Cardiff or Edinburgh? They also have big rugby stadiums as I recall.
