David Flatman made that same point in the Flats&Shanks podcast - additionally that Mike would have been hammered in the press and on social media for butchering those chances.

Yes Daly was not great at full back. Mike, or at least a real full back, would have been a good idea. Can't see him doing any better against New Zealand. Should have been Mike in there really.

I see SBW pick in the centres for AB's I worry about Slade here and think it would be a bigger mistake keeping him in the team than Daly but both looked ill prepared for test match rugby against the big teams as they will target weaknesses.

Anyway in answer to the original post -- he hasn't vanished. He's not in the England squad and why on earth would you play him in the tin-pot cup?

If he's still not in the squad past Wednesday having not played any rugby for three weeks I'd expect to see him in the quarters against Falcons.

If the table is anything to go by we should be trying to get as many points as possible that week and the following week at Worcs.

And again no Mike Brown to be seen this weekend. But then I guess England selection of recent years has been pretty much swings and roundabouts.

I hope that Mike Brown plays against Chiefs in the cup.
Purely because I think that he needs game time.  Maybe put him on the bench to cover FB/Wing and bring him on for the last 20 minutes or so.

I sincerely hope he doesn't and that he's back for Falcons.

I know what you mean - but, when was the last time that MB played?  Without checking, it was probably a month ago.  Also, he was coming back from injury then.  I'm worried that he could be a bit rusty as he hasn't had any significant game time this season.

Actually, as I was typing, I looked it up:
01/09   Sale Sharks
29/09   Gloucester Rugby
06/10   Saracens
13/10   Agen
TOTAL 320 minutes
I'm not 100% sure this is correct though - as I though he went off with an injured wrist in one of the games.
