Nice little round up. The Cat was unavailable injured mostly rather than benched though.

The original article talked of The Cat being Benched rather than injured, hence Deadly's comment here & mine on the original piece...

 - Or was he injured on the bench? - Injured BY the bench? - Perhaps there's a bench in the medical room? - Or do the medics sit on the bench as well...? -Do they put the bench away after each game, & if so, was he still on it?

 -For goodness sake..

Just trying to get the facts right. And that doesn't happen on here too often!

Love to be higher than ninth but that sounds about right. Anything better than 12th whilst the team gets sorted over the next 12 months.

It would seem that nobody is expecting great things from us this year. Based on what I saw tonight I'm not surprised tbh.

I thought in my simpleton way our problem was the previous coaching team and not the players but I am concerned the new coaches seem to have had little impact and there is a cultural issue in the dressing room. Some say give it time but what is likely to be achieved with time?I also am concerned the CEO and Directors don’t seem have a grip of the situation and are not sufficiently connected with reality. It is very early days and I hope my doubts are misplaced. The Sale game and a win to me is vital.A home loss would suggest nothing has fundamentally changed.I will be at the Stoop with cautious hope but am not holding my breath

I don’t think the few weeks our new coaching team have had with the squad will have much impact. We will probably start poorly this season and will hopefully come good into the second half of the season moving us to around 9th/8th. I would be very pleased with that and don’t expect miricales.

Who knows what the coming season has to offer.

One thing for certain is to get up to the dizzy heights of 8th or 9th in the league Quins have to start winning home games against the other likely candidates to end up between 7 and 12.

Sale is a must win game - failure can only point to Quins hanging around the bottom of the table all season with teams like Bristol, Wuzz, Saints and Gloucester all targeting wins from their matches at the Stoop.

Deano used to say that he never won a pre-season game when in charge at Leicester. Friday's game with Ealing gave no real clues as to the Quins best XV or how they will match up against premiership opposition.

Sale is not a must win by any stretch.

We need to start winning at some point in the season to stay up. If it's the first game then super, but you can easily finish top 4 with a bad start. It's a long season.

It is so hard to see where the season is going to go.

Personally I think we have to accept that the margins between top and bottom are incredibly fine, this is what a salary cap does, brings all the teams closer in terms of competition.

Quins could play well, lose a number of narrow matches and be relegated, they could play poorly and win narrow matches and finish sixth.

With regards to “fixing”things -this will take time, Gussy has had very little say in the make up of the squad, apart from the recent spate of signings, so in terms of how he wants to play he may not have the type of personnel he wants. He also has a mindset issue to shift, previous problems may have been down to attitude and changing that doesn’t just happen when a new broom sweeps in.
In fact resistance to change may be greater, over time he will move the people into a better mind set or move them on.... all this takes time.

I’d like to see to see the team improve over the season and not get relegated....

Sale is an important match in that they have traditionally struggled away from home and are a team that we could be competing with to stay away from the bottom places. But if we lose it will not be the end of the world.
