I thought Exeter had won it when Henry Slade scored with his second touch of the match.

You have to hand it to Sarries. They have a bond and work ethic that is world class. I would take them to beat most international teams.

Let's hope PG can bring some of that magic to quins. I have high hopes for next season to be another big kick in the right direction.

Totally agree.  One hell of a final with the best 2 teams in the country.  Well done Saries, an amazing come back

So many forward passes though Barnes needs to go to speck savers

I know they got pinged for it a couple of times but Sarries really are very cynical. forward passes, lying all over the rucks, on the wrong side, offsides...
Having said that, their comeback was incredible, I thought that Exeter had it after Slades try.

Just got back from the final. Great atmosphere (far better than the LDH, that's for sure!). Personally I thought Chiefs were good for their lead at half time. They seemed to be taking the game to Sarries. It was only really in the last 30 minutes of the game that Sarries felt like they would snatch it.

One thing that got me thinking was the last Farrell penalty. It was pretty close to centre of the pitch & looked like it would be a sitter for him, but he missed it. I wonder if that was a deliberate miss. Here's my theory:

Clock is on 72:52 when the penalty is given, and at 74:13 when he takes the kick. The score is 27-30
If Farrell scores with the penalty, that only moves the score to 27-33, while giving Exeter the following kick-off, putting the ball into Sarries territory. A mistake by Sarries could give Chiefs the chance to kick to the corner, and use their well known "catch&drive" for a try, possibly converted to put Chiefs back in the lead.
However, if Farrell *misses* then it becomes a 22 drop-out that will lead to Sarries getting the ball back, probably within Exeters' half. Yes, the score is still only 3 points difference, but territory is key that late in the game. If they can waste a couple of minutes in Exeters' half, then it makes it easier to see out the rest of the game.

The big question is "Did Farrell miss on purpose?"

Superb final and cannot argue with the result.

Crusaders v Sarries who wins.

I’d go for Sarries.

See we should have ring fenced the courage leagues -Saracens would still be in the championship and Exeter in the county leagues.

@ff regarding the faz missed penalty.
Surely if this were the tactic, then a kick to the corner would be a better option.
ie kick to the corner and score and they are two scores ahead. But, even if they lose possession, then chiefs have to do a lot of work to get back to a scoring position

Fair comment! It just seemd so unusual for Farrell to miss a relative sitter 30m out at a slight angle, when he's normally one of the most reliable kickers in the Premiership.

A big part of me thought he missed deliberately as well. I thought going for posts was a stupid decision then as 3 points up is pretty much the same as 6 points up against Exeter so territory was the most important thing to me. I was very glad he missed as it meant we didn’t have to deal with a restart from the halfway. Who knows, maybe Farrell was thinking the same. Doubt it though

I find it very hard to believe that Farrell deliberately missed or a kick, or indeed that any 10 would.
