If you've never witnessed the roof closed at a Wales v England game, you haven't lived!!!

The weather in Cardiff yesterday was appalling, not just the heavy rain but also the wind.  I’ve never seen rain, sleet and wind like it at a rugby match before.  People in the stands were getting soaked to the skin (my husband’s jacket is still damp).  The first time I’ve seen complimentary rain ponchos given out to the crowd as they entered the stadium.  It was Ireland who insisted the roof be left open and they were the ones who couldn’t cope with the conditions.  Difficult to sympathise.

We invented rugby to be played in the open air.

I have played in rain, sleet, snow, mist and even sunshine. It's rugby. Get used to it. God didn't design grass to grow indoors. Stop making a fuss.

Nothing to do with keeping supporters dry . Successive Welsh players have made such a big thing about wanting it shut because it increases the noise and atmosphere in their favour to intimidate opposition , then why do they expect the visiting teams to agree to have it closed ?

If on the other hand they said they loved it open and played better when it was  , it would be closed in a heartbeat .

Point is , nobody really cares if the roof is open or closed , but they do care about giving the home side extra advantage

All they need now then is a plastic pitch.

If Twickenham had a roof, you can bet your life it would be closed and the opposition wouldn’t have any say in the matter.

It's certainly the weirdest set up I've seen for a Rugby venue!

Maybe they might want to , but only if and when the 6N Committee changed the rules.

Currently its the away team that chooses and that can only be overruled at the request of the Referee or the Committee themselves .

( but certainly wouldn't bet my life on a Rugby Committees' decision !! )

And you can bet your life that if I had said that in a reverse scenario you would be calling me arrogant.
