I suspect as there is silence they were asked to treat it as confidential

A good evening. No request to keep any thing confidential. I left feeling very confident about David Ellis and the future of the Club, and the long term aim is success and sustainability.

More specifically:
- Gustard not going to Leicester. Derided as fake news.
 - around 50 people in the room (I counted 60 chairs and most were taken) but not all were bond holders e.g. there was someone there from Gallagher
- income up to by about 10% and costs up but by less. Sarries and Exeter most profitable games so far this season. Big Game generates about £1m profit and is equivalent to 10 home games. November was best ever month in the shop
- stadium is old and needs renewal.  Some artists impressions of the new stadium blew me away. It will hold around 25k, and it was a lovely touch for one of the sketches to show us beating Sarries.  New stadium will provide sustainability. More news on stadium next year
- learning from other sports that share our values and/or have similar injuries e.g. hockey, ballet. The suggestion of Sinckler in a tutu drew a few giggles
- partnership with All Blacks very much for the long term and makes us unique
- partnership with hockey means international games will be played at Stoop in 2019. Apparently a blanket or mat will protect the pitch
- no 4G pitch. We’re keeping grass, albeit possibly with reinforcement like HQ
- Gustard is insatiable for his desire to learn from others
- aiming for parity between men and women. Have conquered some resistance from World Rugby and RFU to do this.
- sport is good and can make a difference
- coping with losing is a skill that can be transferred to mental health issues hence Movember partnership
- investment in US Rugby hasn’t worked out and has been mutated into a royalties deal
- very guarded response to questions on Premiership Rugby investors. Emphasised that any investor will be a minority
- cautious response to question on relegation, with an explanation centred on “what is point of Championship?”

If I remember  anything else then I’ll add another post

"- aiming for parity between men and women. Have conquered some resistance from World Rugby and RFU to do this." nice to hear that we're innovators in this.

Thanks for the update, Nico!

  • Hope the update on stadium plans is sooner rather than later in the year. Any comment made of where we'll play during the building phase?
  • The Sinck in a tutu!  :D
  • Can you expand any on the All Blacks section? Was there mention of players being loaned (either direction), coaching taught, etc?
  • Re the Hockey games. There will have to be a covering as hockey pitches are kept wet during the games, and major competitions are played on artificial pitches. Was it mentioned as a single year deal or are we looking to be a second London hub for Hockey (alongside the Olympic Park)?
  • Nice to hear we'll maintain a grass pitch.
  • Re the US Rugby section, was any mention made of taking games over there? I know we took a pre-season game over there a couple of years back, but there was also a lot of scuttle-but about one of our Prem games (either home or away) being relocated over there...

Looking at staying put with the work going on behind the existing ground to start with. Question the practicality of this.

Yes. There is potential for both but no details.

They were hoping to have the hockey fit in during the period where the pitch is taken up during the summer. Think the hockey will be longer term

No, thankfully.

Thanks for the info.

Did the stadium plan show the stadium being totally enclosed or was it 4 seperate stands like we have now?

Would be interested to know how much we lost on the failed investment in expansion to America -- something that a lot of us on here said was pointless and would take decades to achieve anything.

The artists impression made it look like one big stadium, not four stands. There was a mention of a wraparound TV screen.

I've just remembered something else. Dave Ellis said that "they" had had a brainstorm over the summer - not sure if "they" is the board, or Ellis' management team, or Gustard. The result of the brainstorm is that the number one priority for the club is (now) the best performance possible from the team on the pitch.
