Renewing memberships
« on: Tuesday 24-Mar-2020, 16:05* »
We've been paying for our memberships by direct debit for years.  However, this year the first payment is due out in the very near future, on 1 April.  We have decided to cancel the direct debits but hope that the corona virus situation may be clearer by the time of the renewals deadline in early June and we can decide what's best.  It may be that our finances won't stretch to renewing our memberships.

I think it would be helpful if the Club were to offer to delay the start of the direct debit payment scheme and extend the renewals deadline.  I can't believe we are the only people having to consider if we can really afford to renew.  I know it's money already paid out, but it's a bit harsh to seek payment for the next season when we're unlikely to be able to use all of this season's membership.

I know that there are bigger financial matters for the Club to deal with at present, but committing to pay out £750+ is a big deal for a lot of their supporters.

It is a large amount but it’s in instalments, If you can’t afford it agree cancel it
I’ll be paying while I can and if situation changes will cancel

I know it can be a lot of money, but look at this another way... If everyone cancels, there definitely won't be a club to support after the current situation resolved itself.

Not trying to convince you one way or another, just offering another side.

You could say that but any business. If no one buys into them they will go undermining but in this time when wages are dropping and people are being made redundant soke of us will have to sacrifice things such as Quins season ticket foenthay little bit of extra money to keep the lights on and put the food on the table for our families.

In the end Quins is a hobby, an indulgence and it is not something I am willing to pay for regardless. If I can afford it I will, if i cant then i will have to drop my season ticket. The prospect of not having the last few games of the season though with no prospect of refund would be in bad taste though particularly with the hike in season tickets for next season.

I have said this elsewhere but still think it is worth restating.

The membership payment deadlines may be important to the club financial and seat management and but to the majority of those paying they are simply arbitrary lines in the sand.  Many people are now plunged into financial uncertainty and their priorities will have changed.  The situation is both dynamic and unprecedented.

The club must acknowledge that the situation has changed.  It should immediately suspend the current membership deadlines or communicate that they are under review and may be pushed back to a later date.  To do so would recognise that supporters/members have other issues to contend with right now.

The country, and particularly London, is about to enter an extremely difficult period.  No one would build a 4,000 bed medical facility if that were not to be the case.  In the coming days there will be uncertainty and anxiety over the number of new cases.  It is highly likely that a consequence of those new cases will be an increase in daily mortality.  In that scenario the club is not a priority, rugby is not a priority and membership payment deadlines are definitely not a priority!

Suspend the idiotic deadline.  Look at reinstating the membership application later in the summer and lets look forward to celebrating our return to the Stoop later in the year.

I contacted the club as we didn't want to keep the same seats, my daughter and I sit in premier and there's no child discount there now, meaning £600 each, plus my wife and younger daughter in club over the aisle. I haven't heard back from them. I'm definitely cancelling my DD. They can contact me to reinstate. No way to treat customers even (especially?) in such difficult times

I think it's fair to assume that there's no staff in the ticketing office/admin part of the club at the moment to answer the phones. It's not an essential role at this time.

Just  want to praise the club's admin. I emailed about ecash refunds and received a reply same day, answering all my queries and sorting out the refunds. So they may not be dealing with phone queries but they are dealing with emails.

Hope to be able to renew, but as others have said, it's not an essential and finances are not looking good due to loss of work at present.  Good luck everyone and keep well.

I've always found the service provided by the ticketing staff to be excellent.

I have been trying to deal with them via email. If they want people to renew membership, with first payments coming out on DD in just a few days time surely they can answer emails? I agree they are normally excellent, but I've been waiting for an answer for a week...
Quins on toast, they are still getting paid as I understand it, although at a lower rate, I know it's difficult, but I'm not getting paid at all. I've lost all income into my company with the shut down and the only positive thing on the horizon is a new build on site contract but that doesn't start till June/July. As long as building sites aren't shut down... What am I supposed to do to feed my kids and pay the mortgage till then? I was knocked off my motorcycle and had to spend 6 months off of work last year too, so my finances were already somewhat stretched. Take your sanctimonious twaddle and stick it. You have no idea what I'm trying to get through right now....

What's the urgency? Cancel your DD and when things are more normal, speak to the club. The renewal deadline is not even close.  To expect the club to respond as per normal in these times is quite frankly ridiculous.
