Why is it a “baby eating lock” ?  A lock that eats something much bigger and scary like a polar bear or rhinoceros would be more intimidating.

That would take too long and leave no time for line out training. Babies have been scientifically proven to be just the right size.

Many rugby clubs have a stack of "free" copies of the magazine in their clubhouses. and many may be bought in shops, so 70K is the low end. However, if you include the Mail, Sun etc, then the figures are still roughly the same ~ 25-30% of the Sunday papers reach their target audience which is roughly the same as the Rugby Paper. My admittedly crude effort to highlight the figures was mainly to point out that rather more than "no one" (i.e. ~70,000) reads the paper.

There are more "rent a gob poor journalist(s)" working for the Sun/Mail/other tabloid than I'd care to imagine - not sure they are newspapers; rather loudspeakers blaring out coprolite.

Apologies, TomBQ, if this breakout session has failed to excite you. I too, hope that Snyman arrives and that certain fans on this board donate many babies (*) for him to eat.

[(*) metaphorical babies - obviously not real ones]

It shifts 17000, give away and bulk don’t count.

And those national papers aren’t just targeting the audience you describe so the comparison doesn’t work - being into rugby is far more specific than being “Tory” or “Labour”

The point is it sells less than some really niche weird weekly magazines.

17k sales is really really really small.

No one reads it.

It's a good job you're here to steer us away from such nonsense, Blucher: where would we be without you guidance? I, for one, will hug you for your prescience.

Why buy TRP when you can read RugbyPass for free?

17k sales is really really really small.

No one reads it.

I get the TRP most Sundays and read it as does my other half, and KQ junior when he's home. Our local two supermarkets have 4-5 each on a Sunday and usually you can't get one on a Monday. Readership is likely up to at least twice the 17K unless the other 16,999 are purchased to shred for cat litter, composted and/or used to light fires rather than being read.

It's got a limited readership but good coverage of the English game down through the levels, including reportage down to levels 5 and 6,  results and tables down to Level 10 and some Welsh(not just Pro14) and some French. So it's not read by no one. At least three readers and 16,999 buy it to light fires.

Plus 3 more in our house - I think it has become more 'tabloid' in the last year or so and with social media it can be 'old news' by the time they go to print but I particualry enjoy seeing results from local lower league teams and clubs I have played for in the past.

Or join READLY (just my opinion nothing to gain!)  and get this plus loads of other weekly / monthly magazines, eg  Rugby World,   on a digital device for £8 per month!

I do hope the donors are true. A proven to quality lock is what we need to replace Horwill. We will miss him next season

Blood donors?

Is that all it takes to make a snarling, South African, baby-eating lock? Did Deano leave any of those capsules lying around at the training ground? No time to waste.

Coming back to Snyman for a second...

I'm wondering whether there could be a possible delay on announcing because of WC squad announcements? I wonder if Quins and his agent are waiting to see if he gets picked before dotting i's and crossing t's?If he doesn't get picked, his contract could presumably include our preseason - whereas if he does get picked then we're talking about him joining whenever SA crash out of the WC. Plausible?

Of course there is always the chance that the rumour was just that and nothing more. Either way, Quins haven't said "no more signings coming". Nor have they said "more on the way". TORTURE. I LOVE IT. Yes, I have masochistic tendencies.

We’ve announced de Jäger and just said he’ll be here when he can (depending on World Cup selection)

So there would appear to be no need to hide his signing for those reasons.
