Irish have picked up Adam Coleman. Although he is far from perfect, he is an absolute specimen and I suspect a stint in the prem would help iron out his flaws. I'm hoping our links to Snyman are why we didn't move for someone like him...

Also sorry for posting in this thread and getting people's hopes up!

Shame we didn't go for Coleman - he would have been ideal for us.

Irish are making some impressive signings:
O'Brien
Rona (who I think will be a big hit)
Coleman
Phipps
Naholo
Kepu

Its only a rumour, and nothing has been confirmed but it was mentioned that Irish are paying Coleman around 8-900k a season.  That is a serious amount of money for him I think.

I think Quins could do a lot worse than take a look at the Queensland Reds.  They have some seriously good young players. Brad Thorn has taken over as coach, he started coaching their age groups and helped out with the first team forwards.  Then took over Queensland Country (one of their sides in the NRC) and lead them to the title.  Now the main man at the Reds.  Cleared out all the old players and put his faith in the youngsters he knew from the age groups (plus a few older heads from outside).  Slowly getting there but they have some real young talent.  Very promising young set of locks in the group.

How many premiership games will a player making the Semi Finals of the RWC miss?

Is there a waiver in place for teams promoted to the Premiership with regards the salary cap? If the likes of Sarries, Bath or even Quins signed this group of players, would questions not be being asked about affordability with the salary cap? O'Brien, Coleman, Naholo, Phipps are all current(ish) internationals in some of the strongest teams globally....

FWIW I think it's amazing they've been able to attract all these names and hope it helps them bring on some of their young talent. They can't afford another drop with this lot, so they need to be building strong foundations for the near and longer term future.

I think if you compared this list to our current squad we have at least a like for like player in each position who will be costing similar amounts - that's on top of the fact that the rest our squad is of higher quality.

Two. Season starts on weekend of quarter finals. So you’ll miss three if you make the final - plus some rest so presumably 4-5.

Pretty much the same as the Autumn Internationals.

Attempted to answer this on the Sale SN board (no reason any of you would’ve seen it!)

Last group round is 13th October. Knock outs are weekly with the final on November 2nd.

Assume a couple of weeks off after they come back.

Premiership starts on 20th October.

So it may only be one round but Europe is 15-17 and 22-24 November.

So not a dissimilar gap to after the AIs.

Weirdly there then seems to be a 2-week gap before going again in Europe on the weekend of the 6th December.

Does mean the Euro group stages are done before the 6N but then a 3-month gap until the quarters.

It’s not that many games to miss, but I think early season momentum is very important for a promoted team.

Jackson and Rona will probably be available, but it’s not a huge stretch to think that the rest of their new signings will be unavailable until after the QFs.

Difficult to say how much we’ll be impacted TBH. Could be as few as just Sinckler, or could be a decent chunk.

Form and injuries to others etc could be any of the following....(some definite others fringe and some of the new kids I know aren't joining until after but you get the idea...)

Care, Brown, Sink, Robshaw, Earle, Lang, Elia, Lasike, Bothma, Botta, Landajo, Campagnaro, Baldwin, Glen Young (?)

Snyman has signed for Honda Heat for the 2020 season according to SA Rugby Mag, won't be back for the Bulls until the 2021 Super Rugby season.
