Been released by Irish. Shame for him, I was a bit surprised when we let him go as I hoped he was over his injury trouble and looked a decent lock.  Think he only featured twice for Irish so was probably a good move by us.

Tbh I wouldn't be surprised/complain if we took him back.
Prefer him to Stan south

Not for me.  As mentioned, only played two games for Irish all season.  Cant see why we would want him tbh

He proved when with us that he's a good squad player and we can defo get him on the cheap. He'll also probs not have a long adjustment period and has already played for us this year...
If we are looking for a decent squad boy then he seems like a good fit

Sadly it seems that injury has caught up with him and he has never quite recovered. Can see him playing in the Championship where he can mange the injury easier with a smaller club, and still be able to turn out regularly. Shame, good bloke, good player.

Yep, can't help but think we've made a mistake in letting him go.

Possibly he's decided he wants to go somewhere that he'll start every week - I think we all forget that the players hopefully enjoy playing regularly.

I don't think we've made a mistake. Can only base our decision on what he's done during his time with us and quite honestly I can't remember a single game where he's had any real impact. It's down to a number of factors but we have to start being more brutal with our academy "prospects" if we want to compete at the top end on an ongoing basis. That's professional sport.

And the fact is he's going to Coventry - not a Prem side. Good for him, as he can hopefully get a run of games as Fursty mentions and maybe get himself another Prem contract in the future. And, selfishly, good for us too - if it does turn out to be a mistake then he won't be playing against us! And we get the (small amount of) cap space to spend on someone who it is deemed by Gussy can make more impact for us now in our push to become more of a force. Good business all round.

I'd argue that the scrum has played well and looked strong in the last two outings - not many sides get 6 or 7 scrum penalties against Chiefs - and he was part of the strong second row that delivered that result.

This is entirely possible but I'm not sold that it was specifically him delivering that upturn in scrum form. If it was then fair play but even then I'd like to think that whatever was coached into him for those two games could also be coached into whoever we have on the books next season. Feels much more like Adam Jones worked Exeter out than anything else. And IF, as honkytonk alludes to, someone like Snyman is inbound then I can only see that helping our scrum even more. I eagerly await more signings news...
