Squad Balance, pecking order etc
« on: Saturday 14-Jul-2018, 15:57* »
Hi guys.
Over on the Bath boards, I'm trying to put together how each squad is looking; so full squads, academy, EQP status and pecking order - all that jazz.
If you could give me some feedback, I would like to get this as accurate as possible - so please point out any typos / human error I've made; obivous mistakes in the pecking order or "that guy plays tight head, not lose head" type things.
Surely a whole bunch of your players are EQP, even if born overseas.
I will continue to edit all of this; and get it as accurate as I realistically can by season's kick-off.
Obviously, if you want to see what I've got for the other clubs, just visit the Bath board - it's currently a sticky thread (to keep the forum open for another fortnight).
Cheers; Aidan

You're asking us at a time of significant uncertainty due to management changes.  Your guess is probably as good as ours, though I think that you're possibly overselling Tapuai and Auterac.

There's a lot of "no one knows" for our set up right now.

No-one knows the pecking order of our hookers.  Who plays what position in the back row is an open question right now.

I'd place Boyce in second at LHP

I'd place Saili as first choice inside centre, but who knows what the club's plan is?

Is Alofa a centre or wing?  No-one knows.

I'd put Mulchrone above Lewis, but who knows what the club thinks?

Mikalcius is the correct spelling.

Mikalcius is the correct spelling.

Speaking of, is he expected back for the start of the season? Had a pretty nasty injury.

That back row depth is a worry.

In fact we're a few injuries away from a crisis in several positions.

Lewis as second choice is a disaster.

Did anyone pick up on the last few words of this interview with Gussie?

Not sure of how things have been under previous administrations, but it implies that there's going to be a lot of input from others into team selection.

I think that's standard in rugby. Someone may get the power of veto but every head coach discusses with his other coaches.

A great example of this would be those famous scenes from Living With Lions...

Thanks guys - keep any suggestions coming; especially if things look a little clearer during / after the pre-season matches.
I've corrected Bothma and Mikalcius mistakes.
On Auterac and Tapuai - I originally had them further down the pecking order, but was told I'd been under-rating them (or over-rating the existing Quins players) by another quins fan; so... as you say, who knows?

Quite honestly though - I'm happy to have most of the players in the correct positions at this stage (albeit helped by a Quins fan)
