Saturday Vs Worcester - Full House
« on: Thursday 23-Sep-2021, 09:17* »
Well it is almost upon us.
The day we have waited for for 18 months (Bar the lucky few thousand of us who were able to take part in the reduced capacity matches).
What is everyone's schedule/routine going to be for the big day? Its been so long, that something I did on autopilot I am now thoroughly looking forward to re-igniting and re-learning.

I think I will head to the Sussex for 12 and then see where the wind bloweth.

Where is everyone coming in from, parking, drinking, eating etc?

I cannot wait too! Weather set fair at 20 degrees and dry. Just hope to be smiled upon by the A303/M3 Gods....

will take a gentle 1hr 30 min stroll from Ashford to the Stoop, a couple of beers before the game starts, in my seat 30mins before kickoff soaking up the atmosphere.

Great!  I can resume mynormal routine of a pint at the brewery before the game and a pint at the Sussex arms afterwards.

Excellent pitstop from The Sussex, route-bound to The Stoop :)

Pick daughter up from school Lacrosse match at Caterham and then straight to the Stoop, fight through the Rosebine and solitary pint of the black stuff and food before settling into seats for the festivities.......can't wait.

Drive from Suffolk hoping the lunatics have not blocked M25, park and picnic in Rosebine. Into the ground wander round take my seat hope for and entertaining win, then back to sunny Suffolk with a stop a Brichanger for motorway services fodder.

Cannot wait.

Get to Didcot Parkway around 10:15am, train via Reading to get to TW around midday. Pub lunch in the Cabbage Patch, then wander to the Stoop via the Twickenham Rough walk & meet up with the regular crew at the Quins Head as usual!

Cycle over to the Stoop in the autumn sunshine.  Arrive nice and early to take in the atmosphere.  Visit to the club shop and share some chips.

I normally take my teenage son, but he's busy elsewhere, so I'm taking his older sister for the first time in 3 or 4 years.

Really looking forward to the match & to taking her.  She's made-up about the female ref.  While in some ways it shouldn't matter, it does if you're a 17 year old girl.

Visit to the club shop and share some chips.

Questions:
-Do you buy the chips outside of the ground?
-Are you allowed to take the chips into the shop?
-Is the club shop now selling chips as they are a bit short on other stock (i.e. shirts)?

For the A League games, I used to get my chips at the Ruby (almost opposite the Sussex) and park on Meadway to walk to the ground. the chips are far better quality and value than those at the Stoop!

Do you also then take your chips into the club shop to share them with people? :-)

Great thread HCJ! I got carried away in answering and forgot to put my answer in - will walk from Teddington, stopping off for lunch in the Thai place by Strawberry Hill station, if time permits stop for a couple of pints in the Albert before getting to the Stoop in time to see the warm ups and just enjoy being back there.

We made it for a couple of the lockdown matches which was great but of course not as good as a packed out Stoop! I suspect the queues for drinks, food (and lavvies!) will be rather long on Saturday
