Sialli
« on: Sunday 21-Apr-2019, 07:06* »
What does he have to do to start?  He is an absolute live wire in attack always looking for the off load and gets his hands free. He is also strong in defence, I don’t see Alofa as a better player.  Also he is staying next season.

He has our historic trademark Harlequins Flair all about him. He is the spark in many of our attacks in the backline and like many on this forum I too can’t understand why he warms the bench. Not that that’s a bad thing having a player of his quality coming off the bench hitting lines hard and stepping with fresh legs in the latter stages, but I just feel his finesse and performances should merit more starts in the XV. Here’s hoping he starts the last few games. Players like him make all the difference in my opinion

The only thing I can think of is that the coaches aren’t sure he could last a whole game fitness wise? He certainly ramps things up when he comes on.

Sorry to be pedantic, but if we’re going to write a thread about Saili, can we at least spell his name right?

I agree he should start though. I wouldn’t take him ahead of Marchant, but considering he is injured, I can’t see any good reason to start Alofa ahead of Saili.

Agreed - I'd start him in the centre and move Alofa to the wing as we're short there

Been saying for weeks he offers so much more in attack and a shame he hasn't been started regularly -assume Gussie sees Taps and Alofa as more solid ?

Tapuai has been excellent all season in both attack and defence. I think Saili is better at 13 anyway so with Marchant out, it’s the most obvious solution. Particularly considering Alofa is leaving.

Not done deliberately I assure you.

Sure, but you could go back and edit it.

You're not really being pedantic - just unnecessarily boorish. I don't know J Scott at all and I'm not making any assumptions or speaking for them but I'm sure you're more than aware that dyslexia exists so knowing that, I definitely wouldn't be coming out of the traps in the way you have. Just don't think this was necessary really - other ways of saying the same thing without deliberately trying to humiliate people.

On the subject itself, Saili would be starting most of the time for me (at 12 when Marchant is fit and when he's not, at 13 partnering up with Taps). But Gussy obviously knows something we don't. Based on performance when on the pitch, Saili is streets ahead of Alofa. Which leads me to believe that some of the suggestions about Saili's fitness might not be too wide of the mark - maybe he's not at 100% and they just want to keep him available at least in part for the rest of this season before giving him some proper recovery time over the summer. Hope we get to see 12. Saili / 13. Marchant a lot more next season...

Being dyslexic myself I like people pointing out my mistakes but as you said the way it was done could be a bit better put!
I'd also like to see him starting but as you also said if he's not 100% fit then that maybe the reason for him not starting.

Not dyslexic just spelt it wrong not offended by it either.

Rodney Regis I could have changed it but chose not to otherwise the subsequent conversation would have no context.

Just trying to have some rugby chat about a team I support.

Indeed.

Hopefully, you also saw that I attempted to contribute to the conversation other than just pointing out the spelling mistake.

Sure did. I think no matter the spelling he should start. Certainly while Marchant is out.
