So Clifford & Brown are back with us. Plus is that they're not going to get broken, but (especially for Clifford) it's a shame he's not at least considered for the bench...

Someone tell me again about how Care, Brown and Robshaw are going to the World Cup?

They are all legends and could be playing - but Jones just doesn’t want them does he?

One of the reasons is because the RWC squad is bigger than 25 players.

No, but he’s picked injured players in the wider squad ahead of him.

Anyway - it’s my just opinion, I think Jones has moved on.

I think Brown will go to the World Cup as 2/3 choice full back will play against a minor teams  and no important game unless injuries but if Watson gets fit he could not go at all

Not convinced about Williams and Cole has been playing well - but we need to see what the former can do.  Likewise Genge - his firepower off the bench has got to be useful.  Suggests Eddie wants to shore-up the scrum by picking Moon.  Brown is unlucky - if JoeC is on the bench ahead of Ashton, must mean Eddie sees Nowell as full-back cover.  If so, he'll need proper gametime there so maybe he gets a full run-out at 15 against Italy.  Could mean Mike is marginal for the world cup squad.

Robshaw will surely come back in, but he's got a large hill to climb to get back in ahead of Wilson now (and hopefully Shields doesn't jump to the head of the queue).

Wonder if Robson gets a look-in - was weird not to stick him on for a couple of mins against Ireland.  Eddie will surely take 3 scrum-halves to Japan so seems its a three-way shoot-out with Danny, Wiggy and Robson.

An RWC squad will need three specialist props, three specialist scrum halves and at least three players who can play fullback internationally.

Assuming all players are fit, Sinck is a given (as - almost by default - are Cole and Williams).

Among the 9s, Youngs is a given, Robson looks to be being developed as the third option (not necessarily third choice but the last one to be developed) and then it's between Care and Wigglesworth. Eddie has preferred Wiggy as a starter, but I think he will only come in if Youngs is injured.

For full backs, he's clearly developing Daly, and if he continues to get steadier under the high ball he's probably first choice. Who else in the wider squad has played full back internationally? Can't see him going back to Goode, who is very Goode as club level but not so Goode internationally. Watson looked good for the midweek Lions but is long term injured and not guaranteed to get back to form. Nowell has played there at club level. Who else is left?

Back row is a thornier question. Probably room for 5 in the squad. If everyone is fit, Billy is a given, Hughes is his understudy, Underhill and Curry are the preferred 7s, Shields and Wilson the preferred 6s, with Wilson a potential utility forward. One of those is going to miss out, and the pessismistic view is that Robshaw is behind all of them.

Even on that pessimistic view, given the attrition among England back rows that "if" takes on Spartan proportions. A more optimistic view is that Eddie knows what he will get from Chris and that he can take a longer look at everyone else knowing that he will slot back in without a hitch if required.

Monday morning selectors tend to focus too much on the last game and the next one. But we're in an RWC year, and any international coach with realistic pretensions to win the thing will have an eye on how they run a two month campaign. Especially England, who have 5 hard games on successive weeks between the last two rounds of the group stages and the final.

This is key. Ironically, aside from his recent layoff, Robshaw has seemed fairly indestructible throughout his England career.

I think that 4 of our boys will go to the RWC, I think this RWC is too early for Clifford, if he headn't been out for most of last year, maybe not.
I think Brown will go as the steady eddie at 15, Eddie knows he can do a job, he's going to need at least 2, Daly and Brown I'd suggest. Nowell is an openside, everyone knows....
I agree with Poorfour, he's going to need 3 9's, Youngs 1st choice, Robson/Care 2nd? Wiggelsworth? I think that DC has been preferred generally to Wiggy. DC is 2nd/3rd choice for me.
Backrow, frankly I'd be surprised if Robshaw didn't go, if for no other reason than his leadership. He is in my eyes at least as good as Shields, I'm still not sure what he is supposed to be so good at.

I'm sure I read somewhere that in 2003 and 2015 Jones only took two 9s to the RWC
