I’m really confused about what happened in the scrum on Saturday.
So much of England’s defeat in the final was attributed to Sinks coming off early and Dan Cole not being up to the job. It could be argued that the Springbok pack would’ve demolished most opposing packs but I can’t see how there was such inequality between the four best props in the England squad. They all know each other very well and they must’ve learned each other’s tricks etc.
I saw Sinks going long a couple of times but I also saw saw all kinds of shenanigans at the engagement. It rarely looked stable enough to receive the ball. A number was achieved on our scrum, but I don’t think Genge ‘schooled’ Sinks. I don’t think Genge alone is that talented. I think Carley got hoodwinked and I don’t know how we get around that if the current England first choice 1 and 3 don’t know how to get around it. I’d love to hear what Hagrid thought of it.
