I hope he’s not boo’d onto the pitch. More importantly, I hope there will be no cause to boo him off

Why and where have you ever seen that happen? Were you at a football match? He’s the best ref in the world.

On his next Stoop appearance after the Leicester game when he binned Will Skinner during a scrum debacle, he was booed when he came onto the pitch.  It was pretty pantomime, and he took it in his stride.  It was also many years ago and unlikely to happen again.

I don't recall it all being pantomime - and it wasn't just when he came on.

Well hopefully you’ve all grown up or stopped watching rugby since then.

I think you mean when he incorrectly binned Will Skinner and denied us even a penalty when we should have had a penalty try when Tom Williams was taken out after a chip through. I (along with many others) booed him on the day as he had a real stinker of a game and he needed to know that he did. I think he tries too hard to disassociate himself from us due to his location and accordingly, we get a rough deal from him. Wish he would retire after the world cup, if not before

Whereas for the sake of international rugby I really hope he doesn't. Over the years we've often been our own worst enemies when it comes to refs.

He's welcome not to have any more stinkers at The Stoop though.

Yeah, he had a couple of absolute shockers at the stoop back then, that tigers game in particular was a terrible performance. Ball's out - yellow card. Only bettered in my time by those Wigglesworth games.

Yes, the last few years we have, discipline has been poor. The match in question was before the downturn however and we were poorly dealt with that day

I'd never have booed a ref before that day and haven't done it since but Barnes got so much wrong that it was impossible not to.

Ah yes I’m remembering the game now TQ. Danny Care scored, Marler got sent off and he had an utter stinker that day?

From what I remember Barnes was dropped from the international list for a while around then too. Since that period I generally think he’s been one of the best refs around.

Couldn’t disagree more. And anyway he may live locally but he’s from the West Country.

And your last sentence is ludicrous.

Yep he was dreadful for us in the 2012 prem final, you could see how biased he wa sgiving the win the Tigers....oh hang on a minute
A very good ref who yes has probably had the odd bad call as they all do, but even when asking the club a few seasons back they all agreed one of the best and that was after the 4 yellows at bath
