So we still play their full team next Sunday?
« on: Saturday 18-Jan-2020, 20:31* »
So we, with our salary cap of £7m, play their team with its salary cap of £8m+. How is that fair?

Let's see how many England players are called up by Jones first. I remember there was talk about this 6N being rather experimental for the England Squad after the RWC, but it'll depend on what EJ wants to do. The Beeb seem to think that we may lose Dombrandt this time.

Well we have been doing it for years which was why it was so sweet when we beat them. Only difference is we now know WE WERE right. One good thing we won’t have to tour the football stadiums when we play in their ‘money spinner’

I really hope that we are compliant. Talk of other clubs who might be in breach. Hope we're whiter than white

Well, we reported ourselves last season for straying a few thousand over the SC limit (And PRL stated this should not be refered to as a SC Breach). I would guess (hope?) that given our history from the Game That Shall Not Be Named that we are careful to ensure that we comply with the regulations.

That's one notable upside. No fixture fixing to ensure that we play them in their showpiece game every year. A year off! Sarries vs. Ealing at WHL it is then!

It should also mean that the *Game That Shall Not Be Mentioned* will no longer be the standard "go to" reference when talking about malfeasance in the Rugby community...

So how do Quins and the rest of the Premiership respond to no relegation this year. I assume we will see all teams focusing on attack and being able to play unconstrained rugby rather than some being paralysed by the fear of relegation. At least we can allow our injuried players to fully recover before bringing them back, we might even see more being treated for niggling injuries. Marchant can enjoy his period in NZ and then return to a competitive season next year without Saracens.

As a supporter of Quins for over 20 years i would love us to win the Premiership this year but if not i hope Exeter win this year after being cheated out of the title last year.
WOW what a season. COYQ.

Does this mean that next Sunday, Saracens are just going to stroll round the park? They will have nothing to win, nothing to lose.

They won't want to injure themselves before a possible England game, will they?

I’d have thought that all of the England players will be away next week given the 6N starts the week after. Would expect Sarries to be deprived of Farrell, George, the Vunipolae (forwards) and Daly at least.

I'm not sure that'll be the case, though. EJ has talked about shaking things up with his selection for the 6N, experimenting with some new combinations & new players, given that the players who took part in the RWC have effectively been playing since August already.

After yesterday's game, I'd say our second and third team would be a match for many teams! 🙂

On a serious note, I hope it does mean that teams are a little less pragmatic and play more attacking rugby. We saw yesterday how entertaining that can be. Teams will still want to play in Europe next season, but removing the threat of litigation may let teams open up and play.

Well I also hope the pointlessness of it rams home that we do not want to end relegation

I think some of them could well miss out, anyone carrying a niggle or anyone with a particularly heavy workload. I think the focus of the changes will be the 30+ players. Maybe Kruis, Lawes, Youngs?
