Some History of the Loyalty Wall
« on: Wednesday 04-Jul-2018, 09:49* »
While looking for something else entirely I found this

Quote
When Copsey opened his inbox on the Monday following Quins' relegation he was staggered to find 100 e-mails taking up season tickets for League One with the bulk of them happy to pay full price even though the visitors to the Stoop would be Plymouth, Earth Titans, Otley and Doncaster rather than Leicester, Wasps and Bath.

The fans' gesture was generous. Quins were offering a discount of up to £100 for their demotion.

Copsey decided to test supporters' loyalty still further. He arranged for a Loyalty Wall to be built at the back of the new Lexus Stand and told people that their names would be enshrined on the wall if they waived the reduction.

Around 70 per cent agreed and the club ended with 5,158 confirmed season ticket sales for the current campaign, more than the number who signed up for their relegation season.

I never heard a figure for how much we contributed, but that was up to £500,000! A nice contribution to trying to save the jobs of the backroom staff.

We'd better make sure the Loyalty Wall exists in the redesigned Stoop! :)

It’s nice to be a small part of club history, and it was the right thing to do. The people whose jobs were at risk were not the ones who were responsible for the relegation.

My name's there too, not sure I'd do it for the lot in control at the moment though.

Well, as poorfour said

We didn't do it to keep Evans/Copsey/Richards in a job. It was the backroom staff getting made redundant.

Totally agree DOK I decided not to take up the rebate offered as the club could keep its back room staff mostly intact.  Always assumed it would not impact Evans or Copsey, as their jobs would remain.  Dean I don't think had been announced then and was the good news over the summer as I recall.

Absolutely had nothing to do with the management, when they started talking about losing back room staff and having to let promising players go after the numpty's that helped  put us in that position had already left, we wanted to help out. I seem to remember Scamble starting the post on caw starting things off and it snowballed from there.

Perhaps something people like Nick Easter should think about when slagging off the type of people who use message boards.

There's an awful lot of reasons why he was quite right to slag off many of the users on the old site. Time will tell whether it will be the same here but my guess is that it will.

Easter deserved tha flack he got frankly.
It doesn't matter wether the players weren't doing what he was telling them or if they were but it was the wrong theing to do. The end result is he was a coach with reponsibility for pretty much the worst defence in the leauge.
