I really like what they are doing here. I guess there’s only so much they can achieve in the close season but anything has to be an improvement if there’s more space within the ground. The small roundabout is submerged whenever we get significant rainfall. I wonder if they can resolve that?

I could buy into this theory, but there are possibilities of Europe QF and Prem Semi that could come after the Gloucester game.

Would we move those?

I'm fairly certain that the Big Summer Kickoff is actually a joint decision by Quins & the Ah Eff Ewe, and it's nothing to do with the Stoop Improvements just announced. We missed out on Big Game revenue in 2020, and the RFU missed out on revenue from all the internationals, BG, Other Events over the course of the various restrictions over the last couple of years. We have a good record (better than any other club) of drawing in crowds to big event games like this. The RFU will be keen to make some money (as will the club) and this has the benefit of being something fresh (as opposed to the little-missed LDH) to draw in crowds. Plus it'll give Gloucs fans a long awaited chance to visit the Big Stoop when it's warm for once!

You don't think Quins are even thinking about using the Stadium as an option in case of works overflow into the season?. Bad management if that wasn't on the table.

While it may be a fallback plan, I would say that it's extremely unlikely to be required. The existing stand & infrastructure (including the new loos in the North Stand) are unaffected & can carry on being used even if work stretches into the new season. The work can be boarded off from the public easily without impacting on ground capacity, fire/safety access & exits etc. The one part that would affect these (the new turnstiles/ticket office structure) will be the first part on the build & completed & tested in a few weeks. Look at the existing area and the planned expansion:





Don't forget that the area where the food/drinks vans are now wasn't even accessible by the public a couple of seasons ago. If that area were blocked off again (albeit with access from the stand to the toilets that are now installed), there's no reason why the Stoop couldn't continue to be used at full capacity even if there's an overrun.

I would hope that there will still be the same number of Disabled Parking spots & it's regular spots that are reduced. But NS has a point. Looking at the images shared and the Google Maps grab, it does look like the area that's being used is the Broadcast truck area & a little bit in front of the current Gate 1 structures.
