Swiel to Newcastle

According to rugby paper he has signed and it looks immediately? Bit surprising as Cat is still injured?

If it's true then I think it's a good move for him and not one that anyone could begrudge - he's looked a good player when he's had a string of games together but currently isn't getting a look in.

As mentioned hopefully that's good news regarding the Cat as I can't see us allowing Swiel to leave unless he's back soon.

Why would we not let him leave?

10s: Lang, Smith, Cat
Back up: R Chis... I guess... maybe PG is happy from his academy performance

15s: Brown, Morris, R Chis
Back up: Bet Walker/Visser would do a job?

If he wants to play, I'd let him move straight away

Saw the article - the only other option is it is a loan move?

I've always rated Swiel and would thank him and wish him all the best at his new club apart from when he comes up against us.  :D Smith needs all the game time and experience to bring him on as I can see Smith being the future for us. It does sound like the CAT is nearly ready to start playing again. YAMAS - (Sorry went to a Greek restaurant for the first time last night).

Sorry to see a good player go, but fully understand if he needs to to further his career.

At this stage and no offence to Cat, I would rather Swiel than Cat; great cover at 10 and 15 and I feel he’s played some outstanding rugby in the Premiership Sheild games. But as DOK rightly said, sad to see him go but if it’s to further his career a mans got to do what a mans got to do

A utility player who was never quite good enough in any one position and physically a little outmatched as well. Frustrating. Hope he can find a role for himself.

I always likes Swiel. Thought he had an excellent pass, real pace, & an ability to get runners coming onto the ball from deep. He's worked on his kicking. Shame but as he has such outstanding ability he cant waste away & not get any gametime. Best of luck.

He did really well when he initially joined on loan (injury cover) and was thrown in the deep end when NEv got injured, but limited opportunities after he re-joined and time out injured meant he never seemed to kick on.
If he is moving in good luck to him.

Deano has a knack of getting the best out of players like him.

Quins have a knack of talent spotting Fly Halves, not bringing them on and then them being successful elsewhere

Ben Urda springs to mind -
Botica could fall into this category - Not saying he is awesome in France but seems popular
Clegg - never got back on his feet after Quins

I think the issue was that we had a world class 10 ahead of them all, so whenever he was at least 60% fit he would start, because you knew he could control a game at the top level, kicj his goals etc. Because NEv as an automatic name on the teamsheet wen fit, the development of the understudy was stunted. Swiel. Botica, Urdapiletta & Clg had limited opportunities. Whenever NEv was injured, each of them would have a few weeks as starting 10 and begin to show the skills that made us sign them in the first place, but as soon as NEv was close to being on the mend, they were shunted onto the bench and would get 10 minutes a week if they were lucky.

Well let’s hope it means that Demetri will play at some point.

Also, the near forgotten Louis Grimoldby.
