LAMB AND MURLEY TO REACH 50 MARK IN WORCESTER CLASH
Friday, 24th September 2021 @ 12:00

HARLEQUINS’ COACHING TEAM HAVE MADE ONE CHANGE TO THE STARTING SIDE THAT BEAT NEWCASTLE LAST WEEKEND AS WORCESTER HEAD TO SOUTH WEST LONDON

Harlequins Academy products Dino Lamb and wing Cadan Murley are set to earn their 50th appearances in the Famous Quarters this weekend as the Gallagher Premiership Champions look to play in front of a full Twickenham Stoop for the first time in 18 months.

Joe Marler will pick up his first start of the season this weekend as the England and British and Irish Lions prop comes in to the sole change to the starting XV that picked up a bonus-point victory away to Newcastle Falcons last Sunday.

Harlequins Academy prop Fin Baxter – one of four in the match day 23 - comes onto the bench in the 17 jersey in one of three changes to this week's Impact Players, with centurion duo Will Collier and James Chisholm also returning to the match day 23 to wear the 18 and 20 jerseys respectively.

Ahead of his first fixture at a packed Twickenham Stoop, Senior Coach Tabai Matson said: “We got off to a fantastic start to our Premiership campaign with a win last weekend. Newcastle is a tough place to go and get a win. They’re a resilient side. Knowing how hard that challenge is, we’re really happy to have picked up a bonus-point win in round one. Like everyone else, there were a few rusty aspects of our game, but that’s natural in the first competitive game of the season. We’re looking forward to hitting the ground running in our first home game of the season when we host Worcester this weekend.

“Worcester again offers us a strong challenge this week. They have recruited well over the summer and, like us, have started strongly with an opening win. There are a few familiar faces in the Worcester side with a few former Quins in their side, so we understand the quality of opposition we will have to overcome.”

Great to have Chisholm back.

Garcia Botta always worries me so pleasing to see Marler start and Baxter on the bench.

Agree wholeheartedly on Garcia Botta, why on earth did the club re-sign him?!

If we can get some excellent results in the first few matches of the season, with Marcus, Stephan and Wilco still to come back, plus Evans, that bodes well for later in the season.

Did we re-sign him?  I wonder if he's just in his final year of three.

We should have enough to win (on paper), but this won't be an easy test by any means - Heinz and Williams have really improved Worcester's attack

Good to see chis and collier back. Murley didn't have a great game last week so needs a good performance to keep David and others out next week.

I thought we had but I'll never be happier being wrong than if that's not the case!!!

Assuming he didn't know the actual side they picked at the time of his quote... Chris Ashton and Marc Thomas.

He wouldn't have known. Both teams were announced at the same time (12pm) as per standard. TB's quote was in the team announcement, so it would've been made either earlier this morning or yesterday when the team was being finalised.

Five current academy players in the matchday 23, and no cause for alarm.  Strange times.
