HARLEQUINS ANNOUNCE SQUAD TO PLAY BRISTOL BEARS (H)
Friday, 22nd February 2019 @ 12:00

QUINS LOOK FOR THEIR FOURTH CONSECUTIVE WIN IN THE GALLAGHER PREMIERSHIP SINCE CHRISTMAS

Harlequins have named their matchday 23 to face Bristol Bears in Round 14 of the Gallagher Premiership at The Stoop on Saturday (23rd February, kick-off: 14:00).

There are four changes to the starting XV that beat Worcester Warriors at home last week to maintain third place in the competition.

Elia Elia comes in for Max Crumpton at Hooker, while in the second row Ben Glynn replaces Matt Symons, who misses out through sickness.

In the backs Ross Chisholm starts on the wing in place of Gabriel Ibitoye who sustained a hamstring injury in last week’s fixture. Charlie Mulchrone starts at nine ahead of Danny Care who also misses out with injury.

Among the Game Changers, centre Francis Saili returns to the side for the first time since the victory over Newcastle Falcons in Round 12. Dave Lewis provides cover at scrum-half and, with Glynn in the starting XV, George Merrick comes in alongside Phil Swainston.

Harlequins Head of Rugby Paul Gustard commented: “We’ve had a great week in training having identified our key work-ons and super strengths and as a group we are excited and looking forward to getting out there tomorrow and showing even more improvements in our game.

“Bristol pose a significant challenge but we are looking forward to the challenge and are striving to be the best version of ourselves.”

Strong team theough shame about no Care, Ibitoye or Symons.

Chisholm ahead of Alofa is slightly surprising. Glynn ahead of Merrick also. Wonder if this is due to PG not being impressed with their attitudes and effort now they're leaving, or just a genuine form selection.

Waters is not listed as unavailable, so it's a shame he's not getting a look in

Isn't Waters still on loan? Therefore not technically even at the club atm... So probably wouldn't feature on the "not available" list for that reason? Or has he featured on previous ones?

That "not available" list feels like it's been getting longer though! To be expected as the season progresses I guess but some useful names on there. Bristol have put up pretty much their strongest team. This won't be a cakewalk at all...

Hmmm now I'm concerned about the win.

No Symons, Care and Gabs is a problem.

Our other 9s are bobbins.

Also - how rubbish is Walker that even now he can't get a look in?

Walker is not rubbish at all it’s just that all managers seem to have a player they don’t like and Walker is that player for Gustard

He was rubbish in his brief appearance this year.

Assume he’s gone anyway end of season.

Over the last few years he has had lots of shots - that he has serious speed is not in question - just his defence - Cadan M has shown him up defensively and Ibitoye offensively, although he too, enjoys his moments of defensive laxative...

Last week was pretty much first choice (bar  Sinckler and, for me, Saili).

The team for tomorrow gives a few people a chance to show their worth and repay the faith of new contracts, etcetera.

I think we are strong in all areas tomorrow, provided we are all up for it. As we have all agreed, Gussy knows his onions! He will have them fully charged to hold Bristol off and then exploit the space in behind.

Marchant and Earle to get two tries each before half time!

Come on you Quins!
