The half backs are not what I'd have picked for sure!! It sure seen like we've given up on Europe this year 🙄

You have to say only Smith, Care, Marler and Robshaw would be defo starters! Last year we lost at end of season when team were tired. All bar Care have played lots of rugby this season and will need to manage their workload. Much better to give players some game time as is a long season and ultimately history has shown lose two out of three and only have 5 points you are not going to qualify. History also shows teams do better at home so don’t write team off!

Was a bit annoyed with myself for not realising Quins were playing on a Friday evening  having booked my work leaving drinks for this evening.
Less bothered now.

I do not understand why we try to go to Europe, and then don't give importance to the competition.
Maybe it is better to win the championship who wins in Europe?
Landjo,
It must be played?
Sinckler captain?

Don't you get more money (TV?) for being in Europe? Having secured that and knowing we're not going to get out the pool (though I admire your optimism), we decide to rest players so as to avoid injury  and concentrate on the prem? I'm all for that!

Makes business sense, plus it gives us a chance to rotate players and give a few more people game time.

I'd prefer to think that we would be trying harder with a better chance of progressing.

We would be pushing if we hadn't slipped up last week.
With that lose and some quick math:

The Average lowest points needed to progress (last 4 seasons) is 18
Its very very unlikely we will top the group so this means 3 wins needed with 1 BP and then left up to luck for other groups not to have a 2nd team out score us.

I know this is still possible and everyone wants us to be pushing but if Gustard had played Care and Smith and they both picked up long term injuries the same people moaning on here about not putting out a full strength squad would be putting up "Gustard Out" Threads come Sunday.

Very negative disappointing selection, we mathematically can still get out the group, loose last week away by one point (Gustard praising us for a loosing bonus point, why does that matter when u are planning on not selecting your best team next week). We should be throwing all at this game, very disappointing for the fans who have payed a higher ticket price for a European game. Also disappointing for the players who have been rested, these European games are the ones that live in the memories for fans and players. This game would have been one of the ones highlighted by the players at the beginning of the season that they were excited for. It’s a UTTERLY DISAPPOINTING AND NEGATIVE! I can see selections like this dividing the club and driving the “rested” players out to another club where they can start in European games (maybe that’s the plan) free up some salary for sink. Why pay Robshaw care Marler top salaries when you are not going to play them in the biggest games!

Point proven, utter disgrace! Tonight was awful, been a season ticket holder for 20 years and this is possibly the most depressing evening I have ever had at the stoop, obviously felt throughout the stadium as it was empty after 70 minutes

Wrong. You should always pretty much play the same side. We don’t know our bottom from our elbow and as a result never carry any momentum over into games. Our team sheets over the last few years change more than lottery numbers every Saturday.

You can not do that! You have to rotate in rugby based upon rules of max games allowed to play. Also need to keep players fresh. Just one of the downsides of premiership - if ring fenced then English sides would do much better in Europe. Can rest players in premiership. We can not do this!

I suspect you meant the Pro 14, which not only is ring fenced but there are also quite a few easy games.

If Premiership was ring fenced you would see better English performances in Europe. League would be less popular, lower attendance as fewer top players would be playing.
