I would have started the entire pack replacements.  Front row out plus Lawday and Young.

RETURNING INTERNATIONALS BOOST QUINS BENCH AS GUSTARD NAMES SIDE TO TRAVEL TO NORTHAMPTON

Head of Rugby Paul Gustard has made one change to the starting XV that kicked off the 2020/21 Gallagher Premiership season last weekend as he prepares his side for a trip to the Midlands, with lock Glen Young starting in the four jersey alongside Club Captain Stephan Lewies in the injury-enforced absence of Matt Symons.

Amongst the Impact Players, England centre Joe Marchant and Scottish duo Scott Steele and James Lang return to the 23 having spent the last few weeks in their respective international camps. Also amongst the replacements, back row James Chisholm returns to the matchday squad in the 20 jersey having overcome a knee injury while 20-year-old lock Hugh Tizard looks to make his Gallagher Premiership debut from the 19 jersey.

Commenting ahead of this weekend's game, Gustard said: “Whilst we were disappointed to lose in the fashion that we did against Exeter last Friday, as a squad and as a support staff we felt for 71 minutes we were competitive against Europe’s finest.

“We now move on and will have to up our game against a very well-coached and talented Northampton Saints team.

“We’re pleased to welcome back three of our international representatives in Scott Steele, James Lang and Joe Marchant, who will add real quality to our matchday 23. We look forward to playing a full, disciplined 80-minute performance on Saturday.”

Shame about Symons feel are pack looks underpowered without him. But feel this one will be close.

Decent enough team other than the weakness at lock and hooker. Good to see the internals back on the bench.

Really wish he'd stop going on about how we played well for 71 minutes. We got thrashed at home. Games last 80+ minutes. We were hanging on and only had one scoring chance. If he's just trying to be positive for morale that's fine, but if he actually thinks it was a decent result that's quite worrying.

Anyway, it's a fairly strong squad, so fingers crossed.

highlights how weak we are at Lock.  Compare our options to the rest of the Prem and we look very weak to me

Desperately need another lock until Hammond/ Tizard are ready to be starting premiership games. Surprised Earle kept his place, would have been tempted to start Green there instead.

Hoping Botta has a better game because hes been nothing short of dross in his games so far. Probably would of had Marchant start over Northmore.

Ever the optimist, I'll go for a 20-12 loss with Gustard having all the answers as to why we fell short again.

Would've liked to see Tizard start over Young. We need the extra muscle in the engine room.

I think Baldwin is lucky to retain his place over Gray.

Aside from Simmonds first try, Northmore played well last week and deserves another start. Hopefully Marchant to come on and do some damage in the last quarter when the game opens up.

When I first read this, I saw Botica not Botta. And I was reminded of Botica's daft kick in February 2016 which allowed Ben Foden to score a try and for Saints to then beat us.

Presumably Northmore continues because it's important to get him settled and working alongside Esterhuizen if we continue to have Marchant spending time with England.
