Farrell's England rate has hovered around 80% for some time, same as Marcus did in this 6N.

I don't see how Farrell is a genuine hard carrier, though! He's a "2nd 5/8th" kind of guy, a distributor and kicker at 12 who lacks the pace and power of a gainline 12 but makes up for it by trying really hard and being a big hitter in defence.

He's not Tuilagi or Andre (but then again who is?), but he's shown an ability to straighten the line and turn slow ball into front foot ball when necessary - which is something none of the other candidates have really done.

Hmm. I'd say off slow ball if it goes to Farrell it's because he's going to kick it.

I'm not saying he can't run the ball, but I don't think he's a better straight line carrier than other players we've tried there. Maybe marginally better than Slade, who is the physically weakest option we've used. Farrell doesn't have the sheer power or acceleration in contact to turn slow ball into front foot ball  - my view of him as a runner is that he can pick a good line when the play has already sped up.
