Harlequins announce squad to play Bath Rugby
Friday, 14th September 2018 @ 12:00

Luke Wallace and Dino Lamb return to starting XV with the backs unchanged from Northampton trip.
Head of Rugby Paul Gustard has named his squad for Harlequins’ home fixture against Bath Rugby in the Gallagher Premiership tomorrow afternoon (kick-off: 15:00).

The backs are unchanged from the starting XV that travelled to Northampton last week while Luke Wallace and Dino Lamb return in the forwards. Joe Marler, who was a late withdrawal from the Northampton match with a dead leg, joins the returning Dave Ward among Quins’ Game Changers.

Harlequins enjoyed an excellent start to the season at The Stoop with a 51-23 victory over Sale but were disappointed to lose at Northampton 25-18 last Friday night.

Gustard said: “Both Gallagher Premiership games have shown different areas of good rugby for us and the more we exhibit those characteristics and behaviours, the more competitive we will become.

“The coaching team has been proud of the courage we have shown in these matches to play the way that all Harlequins supporters can relate to and be proud of.

“Bath have a talented and intelligent coaching group lead by Todd Blackadder who I respect greatly and we are looking forward to the challenge that they will pose.”

Numbers on the shirt may not mean much in terms of the roles that the pair of them play on the field...

Ah that is true, I hadn't thought of that

I know you can't ever expect zero injuries but I count at least 7 members of a full strength 23 as unavailable.

Interesting that Visser, Swiel and Alofa are available but not picked.

Swiel came off injured Monday night.  Not sure Morris/Walker or Earle have done anything to be replaced, likewise Marchant

I'm confused about what 'Not considered for selection' means. As Luamanu & Dombrandt both played on Monday night and came through unscathed, are they not considered to be at full fitness yet ?

Swiel isnt listed as unavailable. Just that Lasike is preferred to him or Alofa for the 23 shirt. Which is a fair call, but interesting as showing a management choice. Just as Walker is ahead of Visser on the wing in their eyes.

We have no clue what it means -- brown is injured, for example, wearing wrist strapping in a pic that DC put out last night on twitter.

Others are just not making the cut.

“Not considered for selection” is clever wording and I believe it’s designed to keep the opposition guessing. It will cover the full spectrum from injuries through to “not good enough”.

Presumably they were considered for selection but not picked in the end...
