Tempest

I'm not a fan of Ref knocking but I think the RFU need to look at Tempest. A pedant who reduces the game to the esoterics but misses so much ( from both sides).

All refs are continually assessed.

I thought he was very good for us for the first 20 or 30 minutes.

I thought he looked like a man dazzled by his own image. I got the feeling that he's nurturing a rep to be Mr I Know Every Rule and in turn is killing the game. We were bad today and that wasn't Tempest's fault, we're just not an intelligent team. How long it will take for Gustard to admit that and clear out 90% of the squad is down to him.

Tempest isn't any good but we're generally our own worst enemy when it comes to referees.

Comfortably the worst referee in the Premiership. He didn't lose us the game mind, but he totally lacks empathy with the game and his communication with players is terrible.

Yes - all the refs were rubbish last season as well - that's why Quins came second equal bottom of the premiership.

With all the analytical technology available to teams there is no excuse for not understanding each refs interpretation of the laws.

Otherwise, do what Bristol did last week and get in Spredbury to clarify things for the coaches and perennial offenders.

He puts the pest in Tempest the way he referees the game a lot of the time. Hope he grows from learning experience sharpish

Tempest was good at explaining to the players why he gave the decisions he did. You could see a number of players didn't exactly agree with him, but that's to be expected. If he was bad, from the crowd reaction he was as bad for Bristol as he was for us.
