Tigers - anyone watch it?
« on: Saturday 23-Mar-2019, 09:05* »
Anyone watch last night? Was Healey commentating? He normally doesn’t hold back about the club when annoyed - just interested to know if there was any interesting lines about what’s going on at Tigers?

Tricky few weeks coming up for them.

I was thinking as I looked at the table, a few wins below Tigers could see squeaky bum time for them.

Yes I watched part of it. Defence is not good and fitness or enthusiasm seems to be a problem. G Ford kicking did not help. I think Aus was but really Ben Kay has more to say and he is of course a Director.

They were so poor.  Players just standing getting the ball static, side to side.  I was actually shocked tbh.  If Worcs and Falcons can win today I would be nervous if I were a Tigers fan.  There was just nothing.

I am 45 years old and have been watching top flight rugby for about 38 of those years. I have never seen a worse Tigers team than this one. No go forward, no tactical nous,  and little discipline.  I feel really sorry for their fans, who again last night turned up in numbers to support a team that for the most part,  don't look interested.

Blimey - sounds like us last year - except they’ve been top 4 forever.

Brizz v Worcs massive in terms of Tigers today then and Falcons are back to winning but not sure they can hold Sale back....

Tigers were poor ( except 9/10 of Harrison Ford )  , but to be fair Saints won it rather than Tigers lose it , they were pretty impressive especially in the first half , Tigers couldn't cover their speed of attack , and the 15-29 score flattered Tigers as they got a couple of late consolation tries when the game was already wrapped up .

On another thread there is chat about ex Quins players , Sam Aspland Robinson started and struggled

I took a group of my school kids up to the game. Yikes. Leicester were well beaten after the first minute. Seriously. Reinarch had them on toast.

My colleague (Wasps fan)  and I sort of wanted a Leicester revival, as Saints are closer in points terms to both of us. However, it was fascinating to see their directionless performance  (and a little amusing, given their power and success in the game).

Tigers were worse than us last year (bar our home defeat to Irish), if I am honest. That really is saying something!

Yep. A lot like we were last season.

I actually fancy Falcons to win today. They’ve got Goneva and Wilson back and they’re playing at St. James’ Park with a much bigger crowd than they normally have.

Tigers have Chiefs at home in the next round and then play Falcons away. I can’t see them beating Chiefs so if Falcons win today, they could start putting some real pressure on Tigers.

On a side-not, Aspland-Robinson looked a bit out of his depth.

Falcons win today would be great for the League , not sure they've got enough though , it will need Sharks to have a poor one .

I expected the return of their England contingent (-B Youngs) might give them the boost they needed to get back on track, but on last night's showing they could be in real trouble. Their remaining fixtures are:-
Exeter (H)
Newcastle (A)
Bristol (H)
Quins (A)
Bath (H)

I'm not sure where their next win comes from - hopefully not at the Stoop !

Until last night, I didn't really think that they were relegation contenders, but now, they're certainly in the mix.  Awful defence, old fashioned bonehead lock blocking, and their try only came about by loitering Tigers players splitting to create a gap in the Saints defence.  They're a team of the past.

Tigers were terrible, thought that Saints were very impressive but luckily for us no try bonus point.

No excuses now for not beating them at home
