No prospect of Recovery?!?!

I have said on here I liked the rotation idea, if it meant players did not have to play with niggles, we could get competition in the squad etc but, I dont like rotation for rotation sake.  As it stands right now, with the postition we are in, consistency is the key.  Looking at us and some of the mistakes we are making, I wonder if a few are a bit undercooked, too rotated!!!  I like PGs approach etc but now we need to get back to basics.  Certainly would not write him off just yet but this is where he needs to dig in and earn his pay.

We've had a bad start, on paper I would have expected to home wins and to away defeats tbh.  I still think we will be fine, provided we get back to the basics

My gut feeling is that the last summers clean out was part 1 of draining the swamp so to speak. There are a few more of the old guard & JK’s final signings to get rid of. As for the new signings I see effort & ability in some. The game plan seems clear but at the moment the players selected are not kick chasing very well. If our first 15 was being put out & we were playing at the same level then I would be more worried.

I struggled to see who the leaders were yesterday. With no Brown, Robshaw or Care we seemed totally lost. Ross Chisholm played the high ball really well but Landajo was awful and there was no-one picking up the loose ball scraps (as Robshaw does so well). Then we took our captain and no.10 off towards the end and that made things even worse. A really bad game and top 6 looks a lot less likely than a relegation scrap to me...

I love that the season is being written off after four games. At least people aren't overreacting...

Wouldn’t be writing it off so early but tbh what have we got to come back ? Two props ?  Don’t normally win matches as they play one whole game between them

Our win lose stats must be awful since the horror show at home to Glaws in March.

IMHO we need consistency and not Tinkerman selection strategy.

Head in the sand. The reality is this is our squad and it’s not good enough. I’ve seen nothing so far to suggest we are anything other than in a relegation battle

Problem is we have lost players  who have not been replaced by any who are better.

Yes we don't have as much depth as Sarries there again we have not been spending over the cap.  If we are going to have two England multi cap Props as our first choice it means we have less to spend on other props. Worcester had their first choice props and we had a second string.

A few years ago we would have been tonked today, we have a defence that works now.  Are we the finished article no, have we got more to do Yes.  Will Gustard we wanting more out of people certainly.

Unfortunately we do not have the same depth of squads as Worcs who were also missing plenty of players.

Agree with the point about the defence but we need to defend well as we never have the ball.  The last 3 games have been like attack v defence training sessions with us giving them the ball to have another go.

Agree I looked at the selection and was far from confident against a Worcs side that is unlikely  to be top 6.
As for rotation -  discounting the micky mouse domestic cup where squad players should be given a game - they play 22 league games a season plus European and internationals for a few.

Surely to god a professional athlete can manage that?  Surely the best available team should be on the pitch every single time - we do not have the depth or quality in the squad to rotate - to me it is madness and never mid top 6 we will be in a relation scrap if the 4 games I have seen so far are anything to go by.

Hi, wuss fan in peace.
Not exactly our first choice front row with waller and schonert injured, and with Mudariki also out we have had to sign a medical joker from Grenoble. Hopefully he will be ready soon.
Despite the late start, I think many clubs are picking up a lot of injuries.
200 tackles against Chiefs last week meant we started the game without Pennell, Mills, Weir. Lewis and Mama so most of us were expecting a bit of a hammering.
The weather and interpretation at the breakdown meant we probably  stole one this week.
I'm sure Quins will come good.
Hopefully we'll see a few of you at sixways.

Waller started!

Getting lucky in a World Cup season with a team Dean Richards built.

He failed at Irish & Italy too.

No-one's ever succeeded at Italy. Irish did as well as could be expected.

But I really take issue with the idea that he got lucky with Deano's team. It's total nonsense. It was a vastly different side, playing a completely different brand of rugby, and "a world cup year" doesn't mean we didn't play the best rugby all season, including at the tail end when everyone was at full throttle.

Should Gustard go?

After a promising start things have slipped dramatically. His gameplan mirrors many others in the Premiership and the tactical stalemate is not pleasing on the eye. However, in 'Roadmap' terms yesterday was a must-win 5 pointer.

In constant rain against Wuzz it was obviously going to be endless aerial ping pong with the game decided on penalties - but I cannot understand why Quins lost all momentum after 20 minutes and failed to have the tactical nous in the last 6 minutes, when under the Wuzz posts and 2 points behind, not to go for a simple drop kick.

If Gustard cannot find a Quins team to win at home against bottom 6 fellow strugglers, then the club isn't magically going to be in the top six come next May, let alone do anything better than bottom place in the European pool stages.

Gustard has shown Quins can win consistently but so much seems to be going on in the background this season.

The Big Game against Tigers might be a good time to ask the question again.

Come on Jammy.

There is no denying O'Shea was in the right place at the right time with Quins. But he never stays anywhere for long and history shows he starts brightly and performances fall away consistently as ideas dry up.

Would O'Shea have led Exeter out of the Championship to 10 years of consistent success in the Premiership? Could he have taken Japan to a RWC quarter final?

One thing he could say is that his record in Japan shows that he and Italy had two historic wins and a draw against New Zealand. He could also argue that he was robbed of a quarter final place and would have done a similar job on England in the final.

Then again........
