Transfers - Winners or Losers ?
« on: Friday 22-Mar-2019, 12:15* »
The signings this week made me think about how many players we've signed that have prospered at Quins as opposed to ones that have left us and done better. We can all name plenty of duff signings in the past 20 years or so, but I was struggling to think of discarded players who have actually done better when they've left. Mike Ross, Kieran Treadwell and David Strettle come to mind along with Launchbury. but can't think of many others that have done better post-Quins. Suggestions ?

Most of ours sink without a trace, even the better players. Mo, Robson, Guest...

Benjamin Urdapilleta - Argentine fly-half now playing Top 14 for Castres springs to mind.

Sanderson did well didn't he? There was a guy down at Exeter, can't remember his name and it looks like he's no longer there. It'll come to me. But generally the point is correct

Mo done quite well in France for Oyonnaux I think.  Nic Mayhew earned himself a super rugby contract with Auckland and then Brumbies I think it was.

Kai Horstmann is the guy I'm thinking of.

Aspland-Robinson started for Tigers the other day, but too early to say it's been a success. Sam Stuart getting some game time for Falcons, but hardly a roaring success

I thought Mo left us for a swansong before retiring, although I may have got that wrong.
Botica definitely prospered.
JJ seems to have been a nomad but appears to be doing OK.
Keith Wood didn't do too badly as I recall :) same goes for Will Greenwood

Strettle has never been the man he was with us before his injury. Yes, he's still a very good squad wing but that ability to "disco dance" through a field of would be tacklers had disappeared.
