TRP this week
« on: Sunday 09-Jun-2019, 09:32* »
Jason Leonard likely to go to SA as Lion’s Manager. Castle beer anyone?

Fissler on front page thinks that the oldies may not go to World Cup Robshaw and Care named as such but no mention of Mike. Talking up Heinz (Glos) to go ahead of Danny.

Also Nick criticising decision to pull Marcus from U20s saying it was Marcus decision is just not true had to come from on high.

Having seen the standard of yesterday's U20 game, it doesn't look like he made much of a mistake for his own development.  It wasn't a step up from the Premiership.  Of course, he may well have helped improve the standard...

Before the England v BB game Marcus Smith said on telly that he had decided to play for England rather than go to U20 World Cup: are suggesting he was forced to say that?

Yes but has been at Gloucester since 2015 and uncapped so I’d guess residency applies

I can't see how Heinz would be taken given how he's not even taken part in any of the training camps before now.

For Heinz to go ahead of care, Spencer, wigglesworth and Robson would be mental. It depends how many he takes but it is very odd if it happens. Even mitchell would make more sense.

Danny must have done something to seriously annoy Jones as it can't be a decision based on form or ability. Surely one duff game vs Japan, when he was far from the only poor player, can't be the reason

I think Robson is basically ruled out due to his DVT issues, but I agree with you that surely Care, Spencer, and Wigglesworth must surely be ahead of Heinz this close to the RWC.

I thought Robson might be out but wasn't sure.

Maybe it's the usual English coach obsession with brining in southern hemisphere players. Very odd.

I could understand Brown and Robshaw going due to the competition, even though obviously with my blinkers on I think both should go, but I see care as having very little competition with Robson ruled out and Wigglesworth being a different sort of 9. Spencer is palying well though admittedly, but more in the Wigglesworth mould. Maybe Jones doesn't want a different option

I don’t enjoy TRP as much as I did when it was first started. Perhaps I never noticed it before, but it now seems to be full of stories put forward by players agents rather than genuine analysis.

Quins should target Harry Randall from Bristol - he's developing into a nippy SH that will go far.
