Morris took part in the pre match warm up, he wouldn't be there if he wasn't fit to play.

Yes I felt that was unusual for a home game. For an away game there's normally a forward and back non playing reserve taken, to cover any warm up injuries. For home games they have the whole squad sitting in the stands to choose from if required. Made me wonder if there was somebody in the matchday 23 that they thought might break during the warm up.

Or, thats how it was so maybe this season they've decided to nominate the likely non playing reserve(s) for home games and get them out warming up. Makes sense I suppose.

Cookie - aren't you forgetting Chis Snr.  He is very quick and good under the high ball.  He tends to score loads of tries when you give him a run of games too.

Yes, I am. Poor form on my part.

Are we viewing Ibitoye as being similar to Christian Wade? Incredible ability as a finisher & in broken play but suspect defence. If so that kind of makes him an invaluable game changer doesn't it? Jammy, youre rating Earle as our best winger & probably right there. With Earle, Ibitoye, Chisholm, Morris, Visser, Walker, we do have quite a bit of talent there wouldnt you say? & two of them cover Full back.

Can anyone who’s been banging on about wanting Visser in the side explain to me why?

I don’t feel I for one have been banging on about wanting him back in the first team week in week out, I do however think he deserved his start having missed out on the first few Gallagher Premiership games.

I like all our wingers as they each offer something different to the position, but I think much like our season, we can’t judge and summise players by one game. Single players have up and down days as do teams in general, so hard to judge by one game.

Agree absolutely with the point the OP is making. Those of us fortunate enough to be able to see the A league matches will know that he played in both those so far this season at the Stoop and had one average and one poor game so I'm bemused as to why he was in the 23 against Salarycens, let alone starting.

Ibitoye this season has been on fire in the A league, not only in his attacking play and as you say, a slippeyness akin to Christian Wade BUT he has also been good defensively, making tackles and making them stick too. Now that may not be quite enough for the Prem, we'll have to see but he offers so much more than Visser who is:

Slooooooooowwwww
Poor defensively
Poor attacking
Pants under the high ball

I have no sound evidnce to back it up but I get the feeling that Gustard is working very hard to get a proper squad of players in all the senses of that description.  He will rotate and give players who play well every opportunity.  It takes time and I surmise that its starting to work.  Ibitoye will get his chance - I dont doubt for one moment.  Its a long season and we will have our fair share of injuries and International call ups.

Agreed, theres no rush with ibitoye this season, he will get his opportunities at some point. Brown will be away with england and possibly earle too, an injury here or there and he will be involved.

It does seem more difficult to keep all our outside backs involved in 1st team games, i suppose they are exposed to a lower number of high impact collisions than other positions and perhaps less prone to injury as a result...

I think charlie walker is my worry. Charlie is my favourite attacking player in the squad, he has real x factor, incredible speed, acceleration and feet but he didnt really perform in his early sesson opportunities. Entering into the winter months he could find his chances limited and defence also appears to be an ongoing issue for him. Charlie could well look for a move at the end of the season, personally id love to see him in the team scoring tries.

On visser, i dont see all the negatives, he seems very unpopular with some supporters. He always looks pretty solid defensively and under the high ball and he is a consistant finisher, when he should score, he does. He perhaps doesnt have the acceleration or excitment of an ibitoye or walker but its not 7s and there has to be an element of pragmatism in team selection.

Thank you, every word you’ve written summarises my thoughts on each of the subjects completely 🙏🏽

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Ibitoye is being held back from Premiership play until he has demonstrated that he's lost the bad habits of last season. He could be exceptional if he rounds out his game, but it's better to make him work for a start by correcting his faults than push him forward too soon and expect him to fix them later - an approach that hasn't worked for any number of players who broke through at a young age, Wade and Walker not least.

Visser didn't look too hot under the high ball last week tbh but yes, he is a big lad and a great finisher.

Well now he’s been dropped for Ibitoye.

Swapped more than dropped in the long and short of it. It’s swings and roundabouts. Happens every game swapping players, that’s why there’s a group of players named collectively as a squad..

Well other than Walker failing to perform and being dropped, Lambert failing to perform and being dropped and Visser finally getting a shot, being anonymous - and now let’s see.

Dropped / knocked on a high ball that led a few phases later to BV's try. For that alone he deserved to be dropped, let alone being pretty anonymous as Blucher has said. Not one of our great signing IMHO
