It was a cracking individual try.
The more you see it the better it gets.
At least Quins won something!
It was breathtaking. Still got to fix the cracks in my ceiling from when I leapt off my seat!
Looking forward to the season beginning once the boys have had a few weeks to recharge.
I don't understand why Smith is not in the England squad.
He didn't make the team of the year though - Umaga did. Think both Smith and Simmonds, and probably a few others, were better than Umaga.

Because he is (or was) injured?

Agreed. How Umaga would deal without a dominant pack and the support of Gopperth is yet to be seen. I get that Jones may not want Marcus as he sees him in the maverick Cipriani style, but Simmonds and others are ahead for me too.

I don't know if Jones does see Marcus as a maverick. It's an assumption I've seen several times with nothing to substantiate it. Marcus is perhaps the most creative of the young fly halves, but he generally runs a very structured game. He can see and take opportunities that others don't, and when we get fast ball he is very good at manipulating the defence to go one way and then changing the point of attack, but he doesn't do the "genius if it comes off, madness if it doesn't" stuff that Cips is famous for, and unlike Cips he clearly listens to his coaches.
Also, remember that Jones was one of the first to champion Marcus when he was still at Brighton, and Eddie's style is to tell players exactly what he wants to see from them before he will consider them. I imagine all the young flyhalves will have their marching orders, and he will pick based on who is delivering on them best.
For me, an important point with Umaga, Vunipola and Simmonds is that their style is closer to Farrell's than Ford's, and Marcus is closer to Ford's than Farrell's. If Eddie is going to stick with the current 10/12 model (not a given - but there aren't many 12s putting their hands up as being better at the job than Faz)
I never realised maverick meant excellent.
