100% agree. Smith is more than capable of running the game. He’s just not allowed to when Care plays.

Take the Clermont game for example. IMO, it was Smith’s best performance in a Quins shirt and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that we had SHC at 9. Smith ran the game and did a fantastic job.

If you’d have offered me 5th at the start of the season I’d have bitten your hand off and the season has to be judged an improvement on what went before. I can’t remember any real thumping bar Gloucester at home and some great wins along the way. Onwards and upwards next year.

Concerned about Ibitoye’s defence, it was not good. We need wing re-enforcements next season.

So we won one game fewer than JK's first season in charge!

5/10. Could do better.

Yeah but think of the savings on the canteen bill.

We'll only embarrass ourselves. Probably would have been for the best if we'd been relegated actually.

You're a strange bloke.

I said on the other thread it's probably best we're not in the playoffs because we're not good enough. I stand by it - we're not.

I'd rather be in there when we're in a position to compete, which hopefully we will be next season.

Weak defence, toothless attack, poor line outs, terrible handling & an ability to NOT show up for a full 80 minutes.

Same problems Quins have been having for at least 3 seasons now.

About 20 fewer tries conceded than last season. More tries scored. Granted we’re not Sarries but a bit of a negative analysis, no?

Replying to Quintron btw

Thinking about it, I blame Danny Cipriani for everything! Talented, rich and handsome, yes, but he has knackered Quins for 2 seasons on the trot.

Last year his 14 man Wasps team destroyed us at home. Apart from a win against Bath, we didn't recover. This season his Glaws team ripped us apart at home. Apart from a win against Leicester (and Wuss in Europe) we didn't recover!

Curse you Cipriani!

That said, good luck in the semis. Viva Glawster!

Well who would have thought there would be so much end of season positivity having won only one from the last seven league games. Is there another club with a worse final third of the season or are we the worst club in the premiership on recent form?

I predicted 8th and would have been happy with 6th.

But the difference between 4th and 9th is basically bonus points with none of those teams winning more games than they lost.

We played a awful lot of rubbish this season, even when we won

Unless there's a massive improvement at least half the English teams in the RCC next season will just be making the numbers up.

Well done Paul Gustard and the team. We finished 5th and were a losing quarterfinalist in the Challenge Cup. Best position in the Premiership since we have been members (started 16/17) and furthest in the Euro Cup since Runner Up in 16/17. In our short time we have witnessed some fantastic Quins rugby wins and some painful losses. We believe the nadir was reached last season when we finished 10th and with the appointment of Gussy and the coaching team the building blocks are now being put into place which will see Quins becoming an even bigger and better force to be reckoned with. Obviously there is disappointment at not reaching the play-offs and the semi-finals, but I see a lot of positivism already for next season. The hegemony of Exeter and Saracens is not permanent, after all look at Bath, Wasps and Leicester at the moment and I honestly believe that Quins will be a big part in the new hegemony starting this October.

But that only makes sense if not competing would have any impact on our ability to compete in the future. If we'd been humiliated repeatedly by top opposition I might understand your position ( although I'd still strongly disagree), but we've very rarely looked out of our depth.  And even when we have (1st half Clermont) we've turned it around and finished the stronger team. I can buy this argument (although again I disagree) when it's champions Vs challenge cup, but missing out on the playoffs doesn't give us a chance elsewhere.

Do you think Watford fans and players would have preferred to have lost in the semis?

Spot on. I'd rather make the playoffs and get pumped than not make them. If we'd made it and Exeter thumped us I don't see why that would have can't negative effect on us next season

We really made a mess of getting 4th place with the previous losses in my opinion not this one game.

Indeed loosing 6 out of our last 7 is just not good enough if JK oversaw that he would be lambasted and not congratulated

It’s been mentioned before but didn’t our run of poor form start when all the decisions about who was in or out were made. Unavoidable every year but a large number of leavers this year seem to derail the form of the team. There were several points in games that could have given us the extra point we needed over the season even though it eventually came down to one metre of the final kick of the season. On the up side we were joint fourth, there were seven teams worse than us, we are in the champions cup. We appear to have made some cracking signings last year, hopefully some for next year.
