When will the premiership season be cancelled
« on: Friday 03-Apr-2020, 09:42* »
Have seen lots of little comment on this I thought it would start a thread.

I for one can't see a situation which will enable the season to be completed. The lock down is until atleast the end of May, many including my self are on furlough until atleast then and I think that the lock down will be over large gatherings will be restricted for many more months as they won't want a secondary breakout.

Based on that we won't be having 'watched' rugby until the start of next season that leaves the league  the only two options, games behind closed doors or full abandonment of the season.

I think come first week of June the announcement will come.

Tricky times for many clubs and supporters, let's hope most come through with as little collateral damage as possible.

They will want to hold on to our money for as long as they can, though realistically it might as well be called over now, and as we have all played each other once, go back to the table after 11 games, and decide everything on that table.

Times podcast which have only just listened to Mark Evans thinks they don’t have a chance in h... of getting it finished and they are misreading the mood of the country.

I think this sounds reasonable if all else fails.
What was the table after 11 rounds?  Were we top 6?

I know people won’t like this and the players won’t either but I really enjoy the Challenge Cup particularly if we play really well and get to final.

I think they will call it over once they have decided what to do regarding season tickets. They need to be consistent across the clubs. rugby cannot look like football with clubs doing different things.

I don't think that they need to make a decision to call it off yet.  I am not sure what calling it off now would achieve.
Surely it is better to wait as long as possible before deciding.
Also, once the main crisis is over, I suspect that we need things like sporting events to restart to get the country's morale back up.
I am not suggesting that we get 84000 in Twickenham stadium in week one. But, I would feel relatively safe going to watch Richmond play on a Saturday.

. Yes but the teams below Premiership are no longer playing. Season for them is finished. Also problem with medical side for players most people would find it totally unacceptable to have an ambulance and St Johns etc at present

I have tried to remove the round 12 and 13 results and think the table after round 11 was:

Exeter 39
Sale 31
Bristol 30
Saints 30
Bath 29
Irish 27
Quins 24
Gloucester 24
Wasps 23
Worcester 20
Leicester 16
Sarries -72

Sadly have to agree with Monte-as a club we are still not ready to compete in a meaningful way in the Champions Cup. We do well in the Challenge Cup over the years and it is to our credit we reached the final of the Premiership Cup. Any ideas as to what will be decided on this if season cancelled?
On what I have seen so far have my doubts if PG can take the club forward to the top level for the future. Very much hope I am wrong.

With all Association Football called off indefinitely, including the Premier League, I'm not sure that Premiership rugby can maintain it's slightly ambivalent stance. I'm not suggesting that we should all be totally conformist with the thought police's wishes but I'd welcome some sort of normality right now.... The idea of a pint or 2 and a burger while watching some rugby is rather appealing.

I'd be ok with the table being based as final as of round 11, would seem to be a fair way to work out who gets top six.
I'm not a season ticket holder so can't really comment on refunds but if I were the club I would email the season ticket holders with a pro rata refund but as credit off next season's season ticket. That way the club holds onto the cash they have ( or don't as the case maybe) and can mitigate some of the costs into next season.
My "loss" comes from away tickets to Gloucester but as I'm lucky to get them exceptional cheap through work, so cheap the cost of tickets are donated to a local charity ( or their free but we pay £x per ticket for charity) I can write that off with ease as it's money already spent.

I think that the prem just needs to call it so people can an plan and know where they stand.

So what happens to people like myself who are not renewing?

I really don't understand the rush. Or why people need to know where they stand. The season runs until June. There is still a possibility of games this season. Wait until May before deciding is my opinion.

I’ll be waiting until very late April as the season renewal deadline is, I think, 1 May.

By then we will have finished the first 3 weeks of staying indoors and, with a bit of luck, we will have a better idea of how the next 6 months may look.
