Paige Farries returns to Warriors Women’s starting XV for tomorrow’s rescheduled Allianz Premier 15s clash with Harlequins at Twickenham Stoop (kick-off 3pm, live streamed).
Explosive wing Farries has been away with the Canada Sevens team, competing at the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in recent weeks and is one of six changes to the team that went within five minutes of defeating Bristol Bears last week.
With the Wales and Scotland players unavailable for selection due to being in camp, Director of Rugby Jo Yapp has shuffled the pack with El Febrey, Cara Brincat and Jo Brown all getting the nod.
Febrey, who made a try-scoring return from a lengthy injury lay-off at DMP Durham Sharks last month, replaces Carys Phillips at hooker while back-rows Cara Brincat and Jo Brown start in the absence of Alex Callender and Sioned Harries respectively.
With Ffion Lewis away with Wales and Abi Kershaw in the England Under-20s set-up, Centre of Excellence graduate Jess Kershaw comes in at scrum-half and Sarah Nicholas occupies the full-back berth.
“We’re missing our Wales and Scotland players this weekend and we’re really proud of them, but it is a great opportunity for a number of our players to step up,” said Yapp.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how the likes of Jess Kershaw and El Febrey do as they test themselves against the very best in the competition.
“They are players, who have been patient and are getting their chance to play top level rugby.
“We’re improving as a team and we just need to work on our game management after going close to wins against Saracens and Bristol Bears.”
