I’m wondering if likes Taps interview yesterday in TRP “ We have no room for suckers” if maybe he was a slacker
-
I wonder if, like leaving for "personal reasons", this isn't just a nice way of saying we tried him but didn't offer him a place.

You do wonder if we might have dodged a bullet there, the clue being in the name.
-
Apparently has given up on rugby now and has decided to spend time sailing
-
Does anyone know why he left/was let go by Ospreys? At 26 he should be coming into his prime I would have thought.
Reading through the comments on the Walesonline piece, it appears his agent had lined up a move down south that didn't come off. By the time that fell through, the Hairsprays had already made the deal for North & the deadline for Hassler asking for an extension had also passed, so he was left without a contract.
Ah that makes sense - thank you

A friend of mine is an Ospreys fan, and his message to me on Twitter was "If this is what I think it is, all I have to say is,
You LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY barstewards!"
I think that sums up how the 'Spreys fans rate The Hass.

Of course we do also have the underrated Alofa as a wing/ centre option. But it is not just Saili who has been beset with injuries. I am not sure Joe Marchant is yet back fully fit after his injury at the end of last season? So the club might be concerned about strength in depth come 1st Sept. Hassler seems to have been a big hit at Ospreys with a good strike rate. I reckon he would make a useful addition to the squad. Experienced but still in his prime.
-
Potentially a bit of a concern in defence though...
-
Walesonline now have the story too:Link (https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-news/former-ospreys-star-jeff-hassler-14967494)

I think Mickalcius is a complete unknown. All we know about him is that he can score tries in the league below and looks quite handy at 7s.
-
Is it possible that the club are looking at cover for perennial sick note that is Saili.
Wiki says Hassler plays at wing and centre.
-
Do we know if Mickalcius is back ft yet??? I am sure there was a rumour we were after a winger earlier (think Cuthbert was mentioned) so maybe Gustard is a)not convinced with what we have b) has other plans for one/two of them or c) he thinks that if a good player is available, you would be mad not to have a look at him.
-
He also has a lot more experience that 3 of our wingers mentioned above.
-
Would not have thought so. Visser, Walker, Earle, Ibitoye and Mikalcius seems like a decent selection to me.
Could be a case of he's at a loose end, & is willing to to a limited contract or a pay for play deal, & we have some cash spare & can use him some times if we want to rotate players depending on fitness.

Is a winger a priority, or should a winger be a priority?
-
Well, he's no longer listed on the Ospreys website, so I assume he's been released by them. Can't say I know much about him. Anyone seen him play?
Edit: Confirmation he was released from Ospreys at the end of last season (http://www.ospreysrugby.com/News/Article/52071).

According to TRP he is on trial with us
