Perhaps Boris J can ask his mate across the pond for a few
hookers No 2s...
(Edited for potential profanity)
-
According to Gustard in the rugby paper "we he had 27 to choose from and we now look set to lose Crumpton so we are really short of hookers. we will only have two or three players back for Clermont next week . it is a real challenge in adversity and can make or break you ".
-
Quite. Chis was OK but we've seen him play far, far better.
-
Chis had a great game last night. Does so much stuff that we miss, like Robshaw. Got two key turnover penalties and carried well.
Unlike Dom or Semi he does not do the spectacular, but very consistent. I have said this before, but at moment both Semi and Dom don’t offer enough of the basic stuff.
He missed 6 tackles. That does not equal a great game. He carried alright, he's always willing but didn't have his usual impact there (imo because of body height, he was too upright most of the time and got knockled back). He made 18m from 8 carries - Semi made 53 from 5, Dombrandt 85 from 11.
Don't disagree that he's ahead of them in the nuts and bolts stuff, mostly his cleanout work, but he was some way off having a great game and both the others had a much bigger impact on us winning that match.
-
It wasn't a full screen presentation. It was only shown in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. The commentators referred to it too, I think. Although, as I said, the ref didn't look at it or seem that bothered by it. But it did look to me like he was caught in the head. Maybe it was the impact of the tackle that led to the HIA rather than the boot to the head.
In any case, I hope he is okay for the Sarries game. I am sure he will be given a rest next Saturday, with Kuanatani joining Chisholm and Dombrandt in the back row.
Nope, it was shown in full screen later on. The commentators, who had up to that point been claiming it was a boot to the head, then admitted it was nothing.
And it really was nothing. Pushing someone away in a non-dangerous manner on their shoulder with your foot when they're holding on to you is not a penalty. Robshaw banged his head in the tackle, that's all.
-
He wasn't kicked in the head. He was pushed off with a boot on the shoulder.
Should have been a penalty then.

Robshaw was then kicked in the head as the guy he tackled was trying to get free. The ref didn't seem too bothered. Not sure if he even looked; the replays were just for the TV.

Article on why Quins appeared to select an overly strong side last Friday......too many injuries and unable to play more than 2 "non-Europeans" apparently...

That's what I thought. The bang on the hip didn't seem damaging. As for the kick, was it a lash out kind of kick, like when players are held on to? If do, I've seen red cards given for that, such as when Itoje did it to a Wasps player.

Banged his head on the hip of the player he tackled.
-
What happened to Robshaw? And why did the ref only review the tackle that clearly didn't injure him?
-
To be fair, reading through the whole of that Saunders piece, it appears he's now got the condition under control & his platelet count into the "normal" range, so I'd guess it's more a case of monitoring his condition & adjusting his workload in the same way that Slade has to manage his diabetes. There's no reason that while Saunders' platelet count stays at a nominally typical number that he can't play a typical workload of rugby games for a Scrum Half.
@ff - I don't think that it is the sort of condition that you can get under control.
I am not a medical person, but my understanding is that you can't get your blood to clot with this condition.
so, hats off to him for going for it. And, I hope he does well, cause , I think he is a decent player.

Chis missed far too many tackles and Lawday is probably our most consistently excellent back rower.
-
Id go with that backrow. Lawday sub if he was not injured. I would like to see an Evans, Semi, Dombrandt back row also. God knows what happens when Clifford is back
-
Thought baby Chis played well upfront, couple good penalties won at the breakdown and strong carries- surely based on current form it's a Chis- kunatani- dombrandt back row?

Never knew that about him, got to admire him for it. Also if he’s happy to be 2nd/3rd choice and still keeps improving not a bad backup clubman to have.
-
Just back from Bath, think a lot of people ( myself included) thought we would get the win last night but possibly with a bigger margin, but it’s Quins so you never know what to expect, and to be honest after last Friday horror show just happy to get the win, and maybe the team can build on that
Thought this was excellent last night

“From two years old I have had a blood disorder called ITP (Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, sometimes referred to as immune thrombocytopenia) where my antibodies believe that my platelets are a virus, attack them and rid them from my body.
Thanks for sharing that NS, I wondered why he had left a few seasons back but then still appeared to be with us.
Got to admire him for the determination to achieve his dream of being a pro when fighting his condition.

Bruiser!
I do wonder why we'd chose a player that can't play as much as he/we would like, especially as in the past, we've had to rely on third string SH for long periods.
But full marks to the lad for persisting in a career designed to bruise and bleed you!

I understand that his play time needs to be managed due to health reasons.
Can you explain that a bit more, NS? (Or anyone else)
-
I don't think that Saunders will ever be our first choice. I understand that his play time needs to be managed due to health reasons. Therefore, I think he will be a bench player and 3rd choice.
-
Also forgot Saunders who i thought played better than Care. He surely must develop well having Care and Landajo around with his youth and pace. I hope he continues to improve to succeed Care as first choice.
-
I've been saying for ages that I don't understand why we never seem to compete at the lineout. Last night it was one of the things that saved us at the end.
Youngs was the man (if my eyes were working). Seemed to cause a bit of hassle in their line out (even if he did not win it)
-
Commentators said that we have 28 fit players to chose the team from. That is awful new, I hope some players come back soon as with Crumpton we are down to 27 now!
Im pretty sure that it that was a league game, a few of those "injured" players listed would have played
-
really pleasing to see us finally competing at a lineout

Not gonna blame gabs for that one, if the offload had come off Northmore would have walked in. It was good play from the bath defence getting back, a split second earlier and it would have come off.
-
Only watched the last 20. Couple of lovely breaks from semi. Gabs needs to learn when yo just take a tackle and recycle, not attempt an offload that's not on. He's not the only one by any means, but that could have been a great try.
Some brainless stuff near the end but really pleasing to see us finally competing at a lineout and lo and behold we win a few so don't concede push over tries.
Good to get the win. With a strong team vs their much changed line up a win was very important.
Gutted for crumpton. As he hobbled off rather than stretchered off hopefully it's not too bad
-
Gutted for Crumpton. I seriously hope it’s nothing major. He made such a difference today!
Overall, an improvement but I do think bath were poor.
-
Can't see them building on that. The same weaknesses are there every single week.
-
Well done! A win is very pleasing. Elements of the performance were positive but Gussy was shaking his head a hell of a lot! The biggest problem is some of the silly decisions that are made. I know they are done under pressure and with a positive intention but it is very frustrating at the moment.
Anyway, very pleased for Gussy and the boys. A win is ever so welcome! Now let's build on it at home in the next two games!
-
Kunatani really is a threat from anywhere on the pitch.
I get that he’s seen as an impact sub, but his performances warrant some time in the starting XV.
So frustrating to see Crumpton come off injured. Particularly when he really didn’t need to be on the pitch 77mins in to the game.
-
Big plusses there were northmore, herron and semi.
I'd add Morris and Saunders looked sharp too
-
A few nice bits of play but the rest was mostly like two drunken bums trying to bumble their way past each other in a narrow doorway for 80 minutes. I struggle to understand how professional players can be so mentally fragile.
-
Blimey - some positivity!
-
Lasike too. If he can offload then he'll be dangerous.
Lasike northmore for the quins centre partnership?!
-
Good to get the win, but lots to work on. So often we just take the wrong option and put pressure on ourselves.
Northmore played very well, Herron did ok. Onwards and upwards.
Come on Quins

Sara's head is very alien.
-
Quins playing some brainless stuff at the end as if they wanted to test themselves in their own 22 for a training exercise for the last two minutes. They did well at disrupting the lineout, wasn't a classic but it's a move in the right direction.
First time I've seen us cause trouble at oppo lineout in years. Think the ref actually policing straight throws did us some good.
-
As has been said a W is a W,. But sometimes we just do not make any sense.

And he was looking good
yes, excellent. Scrum looked better too.
-
Well, it's a win. Some good stuff in there, some crap too.
Desperate for Crumpton. What the hell was he still doing on the pitch after 70 mins?
-
Crumpton down :(
And he was looking good
-
Not a classic is it?
-
Lol. We're gonna lose this aren't we.
-
No way :( so unlucky. Really hope it isnt anything too bad.
-
Is Saunders doing better than Danny?
Errr, no. His passing is wild.
-
Crumpton down :(

Penalty Herron, 19 - 25, 15 minutes left
-
Kunatani! He's absolutely ridiculous...
-
Awwwwww
Coulda been the try of the season.
-
Dombrandt again
-
Bath reply, 19 - 22
-
Morris adding so much. Northmoor looking good and Lasike seems to be really coming good for us. Lots of silly mistakes, but occasionally, we sparkle
-
Cheers Niki.
-
Dombrandt scores, third of the night for Quins.
-
Morris looking a massive step up on Ross.
Playing really well tonight, certainly missed him at 15.
-
Morris looking a massive step up on Ross.
-
Yes dommers.
-
Great shape on heron's touch kicks
-
We are doing some really good stuff. Shame about the ways we find to mess it up.
-
Northmore certainly looks like he will be a good player.
-
Really like the cut of northmore's jib. Some great passing from herron too.
-
Boom. Think sink enjoyed that.
-
Lovely kick from gabs!
-
OK, ref gripe. Why do they take so long to tell the scrum half to use the ball? This ref does even say it half the time.
-
We are trying some quick ball from the ruck for a change instead of kick chasing every ruck situation to death. Gabs is being Gabs both the good for the try & the brainless in majority of situations. Look up liability in a dictionary & you will see his face!
-
We have had one or two decent attacking moves but gave away too many sloppy penalties. If Bath wanted to kick we could be further behind.
We need to take this second half seriously and get ahead quickly. We then need to stay ahead and not let other teams back in. Please!!!!
Hope Robshaw is okay. He needs a rest for a week to be ready for Sarries.
-
This does look like arranging deckchairs on the titanic!
-
Painfully average with exception of our 2nd try. Which I thought was well worked.
Notice there’s still talk of Dommers leaving.
-
I honestly think we are getting worse, now losing to a Bath B side. Changes are needed very soon
-
I do sometimes wonder if we IQ test our players and if it's in 3 digits decide they aren't suitable for Quins.
-
We really are our own worst enemies. We just give up so much ball and field position with unforced errors.
For heaven's sake gabs, that's your wing.
-
That was even straighter from Bath.
-
I thought a FR player had to strike the ball from team putting in, not seen a strike from any Bath scrum.
-
Considering what we see week in and week out, that is a truly bizarre not straight call at the lineout.
Only watching on TV, but agree with you! Very harsh
-
Herron is playing well. Seems to be controlling well and a good boot.
He's looking decent. Criminal to miss that touch though
-

-
Sublime turnover from Chis.
Haven't noticed anything like that from sink.
-
Impressed with Northmore. Sinks does not look overly interested.
-
Poor start but coming into it now. Herron and northmore both looking useful, Goneva showing some good stuff and lineout looks much more assured with Crumpton back.
