Well done Quins, we really do have a mountain to climb next season, no idea where our inspiration will come from, gonna be a long old winter I fear.

Only watched in patches but the two tries in second half were really nice. Some good scramble defence too. Glad we got the win to finish the season on something of a high and to send Chris off with s performance he deserves. Sounds from the comments like quite a few positives.
Glad we managed not to blow a decent lead three weeks in a row.
Interesting to see what we look like in a few weeks time. Same inconsistency or can we start seeing out some more games?

Downsides, erm... we can't finish games strongly any more, which is basically the only thing we were good at for a while, and our reserve front 5 is a bit pony. Earle had a shocking match. That's about it, was relatively happy factoring in the 'quality' of the opposition.
Fitness (mental/physical) of our squad is definitely a problem.
It was our 3rd string front 5 and they did pretty well, in the circumstance.
Yes: Leicester are not the best side right now and out 2nd XV struggled to beat them, but they got there in the end.

Oh - and I liked Lynagh's cameo. Seems to have great balance and a decent amount of power, too.

Bit harsh Jammy to say our front five were bad. They didn’t look bad today. We had three academy players that didn’t look out of their depth. I know Tigers aren’t up to much this season but we put them away without a first choice team.
By bad I mean it was a weak selection. Young isn't much use outside of the lineout and making some tackles and Lamb is a flanker masquerading as a lock. We had a kid at 2, our 4th? 5th? choice loosehead and, well, the tightheads are okay. We struggled in the scrum and coped poorly with mauls (both without possession and with).
I'm not saying they were awful, and I don't expect too much from reserve players. But they did struggle physically against a pretty mediocre outfit and it's weird to see us get a BP win from Welford Road despite that.
Frankly it's been a bizarre post-break season for everyone so I'm happy to wipe the slate clean next season.

I've been a regular Herron knocker, because he's performances generally haven't been good enough. He was good today though with two significant contributions for tries, an initial line break and then the cross kick.
Same here. Credit where credit due. Arguably his best game for us I’d say.

I think it will take Earle a while to physically and mentally get back to where he was before his injury last spring. It takes time to restore that self-belief. He was more involved today than in some of the other games but couldn't really make a clean break. Unlucky Nathan.
At his best, he is all power and pace, and looks to loop in off his wing to join the midfield. Hopefully this pre-season will help him to rekindle all of the aspects of his game.

Agreed. Although to be completely fair, it would have been hard to finish strongly, when we had a player in the bin from 65-75mins.
Earle was so good for us pre-injury, but he’s really struggled since coming back. It’s strange, because physically he looks in good nick - he doesn’t seem to have lost pace etc. he just looks all over the place tactically and weak in defence. Hopefully the preseason (short as it is) will allow him to get back up to speed.

Actually, I thought they coped OK with Nadolo under the circumstances. The mistake was in putting too many kicks down his wing that weren’t backed up with a chase that closed him down before he could get going. He wasn’t able to do much in phase play.

Luke Wallace said that the problem that they had is that they didn't deal with the physicality of dombrandt and esterhuizen
So, it is nice that we have those two in the squad.

Esterheuizen carried well and made metres everytime. Hoping that's going to be the trigger for some consistent front foot ball.

With the (big) caveat that winning at Welford Road is no longer quite the achievement it once was, there’s a lot to take from this game.
First, and most satisfying, Robbo gets to end his career with a bonus point win against a team who’ve been the opposition in many of the big games of his career. Nice gesture from Carley to give him his shirt at the end, too.
Second and most important, Quins are secure in sixth, and therefore securely in a Champions Cup place and Tier 3 instead of Tier 4.
Beyond that:
- Strong performances from Dombrandt and Evans in the back row
- Marchant finally got to see the ball and showed what he could do with it
- Head and Musk both looked good
- Morris and Herron both grew into the game (and the penalty for crawling, I thought, was harsh: you only have to stay down if you’ve been tackled, and Morris hadn’t been. He had slipped down and then had some Leicester players jump on him, but that’s a different thing)
- Esterhuizen looks to be settling into the side nicely
- Els and Kerrod held up better against a fullish strength Leicester pack than I expected
- Dino Lamb was much more visible and did a lot of decent if unflashy work
- Lynagh got his debut, looked pretty good in attack and responded well to that first brush-off by Nadolo

I assume he is talking about the yellow card, but as they scored almost immediately after, a PT would have made no difference.
Not sure how he worked that one out. I guess anything to distract from the conversation that if it was not for Sarries cheating for at least 5 years it would be Leicester in the Championship not Sarries. I guess he didn't mind the dropped try though or the countless forward passes

Yes, he looked sharp and decisive for the majority of the game. Good for him. Hopefully he can go into next season with a spring in his step. He has so much about him to make him a terrific back up fly-half.

After some really good tight tactical play in the last 2 games (which nearly came off), it was nice to see us open it up quite often today.
Esterhuizen had a good game and it was brilliant to see Marchant get involved, he is class. Lynagh dealt with Nadolo and his many forward pass catches really well.
Well done Quins, nice to end the season with a good away win. Thank you for everything Robbo. You will be hugely missed by us all.
