Doesn't seem to work on mobile.
Blocking doesn't work on the WAP version of the site either

Yes, apologies, blocking isn't something I really use. You are both correct. On mobiles it will work if you're looking at the full desktop version (which I do on my mobile). I imagine most people do that given the wonders of smart phones these days.

I should probably have added you should clear your browsing cache after setting this up and may even need to log out/in.

We are going to be missing 4 regular startes - Marler, Dommers, Smith and Marchant - but we have still got a great core group, plus a load of good options on the bench. And this assumes that Lewies and Louw will still be missing.

1. Santiago Garcia Botta
2. Jack Walker
3. Will Collier
4. Matt Symons
5. Dino Lamb
6. Jack Kenningham
7. Tom Lawday
8. James Chisholm
9. Danny Care
10. Tommy Allan
11. Cadan Murley
12. Andre Esterhuizen
13. Luke Northmore
14. Louis Lynagh
15. Tyrone Green

This is a mightily good prediction.

I hadn’t realised until rewatching the game that Bath didn’t get into our 22 for the whole of the second half. Our defence must have been pretty good as their only tries  came when Joe was carded. If we can get ourselves up for this game like we normally do I can see a positive outcome for us.

Absolutely. We sit in the north end of the East Stand and pretty much the entire second half was in front of us, as Quins attacked toward the North Stand.

The 19-17 scoreline going into the last 20 was frustrating because it did not reflect our dominance. Credit to Bath, who were working hard (and getting away with things) to keep us out.

They had scored 2 tries while Joe was in the bin, which capped off a period when they had got back into the game after our strong start. This for me is something to work on. I feel like we are no longer a soft touch when down to 14, so Saturday's concession of 14 points in this time was out of our current character.

As we get closer to Sunday, I am getting more optimistic and excited. Yes, Sarries will want to put one over on us but we are not stupid or weak or passive. We will be absolutely up for it and have a clear attacking game plan. Just avoid penalties! Or they will kick us to death!!!

Weather forecast is for heavy rain prior to match and light rain during match which I would think favours Sarries?

As a saracens fan you are clearly favourites, reigning champions, attacking style we have not historically performed well against.
We are 5 games back, and have had 2 games in a row with best respect to the opposition were not much of a challenge, though the wasps score was a little unfair on them.
I just hope for a nice game.

It's a difficult one to predict given all the changes to both teams. Sarries do historically tend to get a tune out of their squad players.

Thank you. Our performance against Bath gives me plenty of room for doubt that we're even the favourites in this game. However I'm looking forward to a good game, maybe two different styles of rugby, but I've seen Saracens play exciting attacking rugby as well. What I really fear is that once you get in the red zone, you're very likely to come away with points. So, it's going to be interesting to see how it goes, and enjoy your day at the Stoop.

We really could do with a mute or ignore option so we could blank out the white noise

Quote from: Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What if there's someone I wish to ignore?
A. You may be better off trying to sort your problems out with the person involved by using messages first of all or appealing to the board moderator. However if you really don't want to see the posts someone has made then add them to your "Ignore" list (Profile/Buddies/Ignore List) then under Profile/Look and Layout tick "Hide messages posted by members on my ignore list." To ignore any personal messages from them goto Profile/Personal Messages and change "Receive personal messages from:" to "All members except those on my ignore list".

Some people on here are so negative. Giving away the game before we even play. Give the lads a chance. We may pull off a win.

Both teams are full of confidence and will be up for the challenge. May the best team win.

Come on you Quins.

I think it's pretty ridiculous that the players in the England squad aren't available this weekend, yet there is actually a test match going ahead that players can't be released for. On the England players

We're missing - Smith, Dommers, Marler Marchant.
They're missing - Farrell, George, Itoje, Malins

It's really quite even in terms of who's missing - but I think given the relative squads it probably has more of an impact on us.

I think Jack will be all over the breakdown closely followed by Chis. I see it being a close game and they’ll want to play direct for the first 40 at least as that is our Achilles heal.

They will want to win this no doubt for 3 reasons, 1 continuity, 2 local derby, 3 we smashed the, last time at The Stoop.

I think we need to keep our normal game plan but we’ll not get away with poor handling and giving away penalties this week.

Looking forward to it though.
Title: Re: Possible team for Sarries
Post by: poorfour on Tuesday 26-Oct-2021, 11:28*
One cause for optimism that just occurred to me is that I think Sarries' defensive system is still based on low competition at the breakdown and getting the line set, and without Itoje they are down one of their better turnover operators.

Sale's disruption of our game was based on committing to the breakdown and preventing quick ball, so Sarries would have to vary their style to replicate it. They're very capable of doing that but whether they do or not it means that it creates opportunities.

And I'd fancy my Mum at tighthead against Mako so that should even the scrum up in my opinion.

No fannying around at scrum time though, get it in and out and not wait for the no.8 to pick and go and quick ball off the top the line-out. Get them running around for 55-60 mins and see how good they are after that.

That is a fair point.  Id be tempted to stick Baxter in. Nothing to lose.  One thing I would say about him so far, he looks pretty solid in the scrum.
Title: Re: Possible team for Sarries
Post by: poorfour on Tuesday 26-Oct-2021, 09:45*
Obviously we are missing a few, but so are they.  If Louw is back I would fancy him to sort Mako out in the scrum.  I think its pretty even on paper (guessing at who will be playing)

The trouble is that whoever they have at tighthead has an equally good chance of sorting out Botta at the scrum... at which point it becomes which prop the ref believes. And Sarries have the reputation for having a strong scrum, while Quins don't - even though our actual stats are the best in the league.

There biggest lineout threat is not there, but as has been said we need to be solid in set piece they still have good depth.

I just hope we don’t fumble as much we have in the last couple of weeks because they are in great form.

Yeah them having a great game against bath then another against Wasps C team will give them a lot of confidence.

I am worried they come and try to play a flowing game like the last 2 weeks and we don’t click, I don’t think I could take BT sports going on about how Sarries can play that way too, they are a all court team and the rest of it.
I want them to play boring rugby and we cut through for a win, don’t care by how much just a win.
Also quite typical we get them during internationals for the first time in a long time and we are hit harder by it, their version of big game might actually work in our favour with it always being just after players return from the 6N.

He was one of the two listed as unavailable for selection alongside Viliami Taulani.

True, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that will be the case this week. Wilco being back would be a serious boost.
Title: Re: Possible team for Sarries

We'll need to be solid in the set piece against Sarries, so for that reason I'd give Collier the nod over Kerrod. I'd also be tempted to put in Lewies at 6 (assuming he's fit enough) to give us another genuine line out threat. If we can limit/nullify their set piece threat, I fancy our chances.

We need SGB to put in a big performance. I don't have much confidence in him to be honest, but just think it's a bit to early to throw Baxter in from the start in a big derby game.

They normally have to have a weeks rest but you can manage their game time I think, as in Marler & Smith could rest against the Nots and Marchant & Dommers rest against Tigers. Else we rest all 4 for the Nots so that they're all back for Tigers.

That may have changed in the new rules so I'm not 100% sure. Plus we've got Europe straight after Tigers.

Yes, Lewies off the bench could make a pretty big impact. Tommy Allan has got a run of games ahead of him too, which is good. Agree with the o/p with Kenners and Lawday reversed.

I wonder if Walker will be available after what I think was an HIA on Saturday. He has settled in well and has done a job in all parts of the game. Riley came on and did well,  as he has done every time. It is nice to have two good hooking options.

So, we will lose our four England Boys for Sarries and Wasps in the league, then Saints and Sarries in the Cup. Will they be back for Irish on the 27th Nov or Tigers on the 5th Dec, does anyone know?

Personally, I wish the calendar had fewer Prem games and more Cup games during these international periods. I would prefer the 6 nations to be played across consecutive weekends too. Oh well, c'est la vie. We are capable of wins in all of the games, so bring on all comers!!!

I think the original post is pretty much  spot on and still is a pretty strong team. I’d probably start Kerrod as he is a better carrier than Collier and we’ll need that with no Dombrandt. I don’t think he is quite ready for it, but Baxter at LH ahead of Botta would great but I completely understand not starting him.

Also the potential return to full fitness of Lewies, I’d be tempted by him at 6 but probably his impact will be from the bench if he can play

Reckon Lewies would be on the bench if he's fit enough to play next week. I wouldn't expect us to throw him straight in after a few months off by starting against Sarries.

Otherwise, agree the starting team with flankers swapped looks favourite.

I'd be tempted to swap Northmore and Jones.

It'd be good to get some mileage out of him before he goes back up to Scotland and we've not seen that much from him yet. Northmore is also always better off the bench that starting imo for some reason
