What. A. Phenomenal. Video.
Love it! Hopefully a very interesting week ahead!
-
Especially enjoyed "oh, he's the seasoned international ready to strike fear into opponents"... Who from the list of rumours could this be? I don't know if you'd call Snyman a "seasoned international" (although he certainly falls into the fear-inducing category) and with coaches finding him so marmite I don't know if you could call Cips an international veteran either. Maybe it's Landajo. Hoping it's someone not even mentioned and who will completely outdo all expectations...
Exciting!
-
And everyone's favourite saying there will be "a few Kiwis by all accounts": https://twitter.com/RugbyInsideLine/status/1107241450260054017
Haven't seen any rumoured. Which makes the possibility (however remote) even more tantalising. I love this stuff.

Exciting!
All 3 would be outstanding. And like you say someone of good quality who hasn’t been mentioned yet would be great.
Do we dare dream!
I know there were some doubts earlier this season when the topic was brought up, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a past All Black or a young and up coming All Black and current player from a Super Rugby team to sign for us.
My main wish is to see Cips at Quins tearing it up with Care at 9&10. Exciting stuff and funny video, look forward to see how they announce the signing as much as the signing reveal itself!
-
"I don't think the Quins budget will stretch to jet skis, and bongos, and girls dancing, even though we'd like it to."
Topical.
-
Love it! I think, and hope, Snyman is a signing.
-
“Seasoned international” sounds like Campagnaro to me.
Looks like Bath are swooping to steal Anscombe but I’d be surprised - and delighted - if that meant Quins stumped up for a season or two of Cipriani. No more than that, as Smith will soon be running the show. But Cipriani could win us some silverware in the meantime.
-
Really excited to hear who we’ve signed. Cips would be great but just imagine what MS and JL could learn from him about game management.
-
That was genius! Exciting times.
-
Saw a suggestion that the different ways of announcing players on that chalkboard could be a hint at the players being announced, with lion king obviously being Scott Baldwin.
Anyone got any ideas who the others could be if it's really that, fireworks - cips maybe?
-
They're actually just the ways other clubs have announced their new signings. They've re-edited scenes from famous films, generally overlaying players' faces to introduce the new signing. For example: https://twitter.com/WaspsRugby/status/1085491919940128768
-
Only a rumour but RIL tweeted saying we've signed Cornish Pirates second row Toby Freeman. Not sure if this could potentially be one of the signings? Or may not even happen at all, only a rumour.
-
I enjoyed seeing George Robson's name on the "not funny" list
-
Judging by the first set of clues, todays announcement will be Martin Landajo. Confirmation at midday.
-
Yep, that looks like the first one.
-
This second one is Santiago Garcia Botta, right?

So someone says -- and i get Santa Go -- but how the hell is the robot river thing part of it?
-
Robot = Botta
Is there a river called Garcia?

Answer: yep.

Fissler looks to have been pretty spot-on so far. And here he is re-iterating who he thinks we're going to see...
https://twitter.com/neilfissler/status/1107633181799444480
-
Answer: yep.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garcia_River
Yeah but that can't possibly be the clue.
The robot is first -- the river pic I had assumed was something to do with how it splits or an island (eyot?).
I'm baffled

Is he a tighty or a loosey?

Oh it's TAR. Wow. They could literally have chosen any other picture in the world.
And you're right, a quick Google image search shows they've stolen it from a company in Austen, Texas. https://poorpaulspaving.com/tar-and-chip/
Copyright not an issue for Quins social media team obvs.

Loosey I believe

Probably why they chose that pic - v low risk. They're obliged to pay out if the photographer/copyright owner comes calling, but how likely is that?
Having said that, they should really just use Pixabay: https://pixabay.com/images/search/tarmac/
-
Loosey I believe
Yup, replacing Boyce.
-
Looks like we are really making in roads to this topic now.
-
Couple of good ones announced today. If to be believed, we will also see, Baldwin, Snyman, Herron, Young and Campagnaro announced. I have a feeling that we will get a surprise or two, one or two names out of nowhere that have not been mentioned before. I would take a guess at Back row or Wing
-
Presumably we won't be getting 2 per day? Care and Chisholm were joking about back row competition in their video I think. Presumably someone will come in to replace Wallace and Luamanu?
-
I dont think it is out of the question to expect 10 new in comings announced (2 a day). RIL suggesting we have signed the Lock (Toby Freeman) from Pirates. As for the back row, Will Evans and Tom Lawday have both been linked, I think Lawday went quiet when Clifford signed on again. Keep being linked with FH, Cipriani/Anscombe in recent weeks, so we could well see a new FH coming in then???
-
What a difference a day makes, 24 little hours.
Two very good signings! Looking forward to the rest of this week with a few more on the way.
Keeping my fingers crossed we get Cipriani!
Exciting times!
I like the nickname “Guitar Tin” for Martin Landajo too, courtesy of Marler
-
I still think the only FH signing we're likely to get will be Brett Heron from Jersey, who we've been linked with for a little while now.
Seems like another FH as well as him would be one too many.
-
I don't think it is guitar tin but Marr tin. I think that is a photo of Johnny Marr from the Smiths...
-

Initially, I would have agreed, but the rumours of a new FH keep floating around, which makes me wonder if we were/are looking still
-
Fissler also sticking to his guns on Will Evans... https://twitter.com/neilfissler/status/1107669547996327937
-
Pretty sure Gustard recently confirmed the current crop are the 3 FH for next year
-
He also said no signing announcements until the end of the season according to the Chinese whispers on this board - so many of them flying around on here that I'm choosing to go with Fiss and the rumour mill gang - who seem to be on target so far...
-
Very happy with the first 2! A massive improvement in scrum half quality after DC, and an improvement on Boyce at 1! Real quality backup to Joe M. Excellent. Baby eating lock required and a decent 7. Snyman? Will Evans?
-
Pretty sure Gustard recently confirmed the current crop are the 3 FH for next year
I cant remember the exact quote, but wasnt it that we had 3 on our books currently (MS, JL and The Cat) who are in contract for next season?? He might currently be in contract next season, but I would still be surprised to see the Cat here next year. The rumour was Japan (The same side that Reid and WLR have just signed for, Toyota Verblitz) Jake White is coach there.
-

Agreed. I’d be very happy with those four.
I’m not so sure I’d put Botta that far ahead of Boyce though. I can’t say for certain that I’ve ever seen him play and he is a 33 cap international, but when I think of how underwhelming Noguera Paz (who is more highly rated in Argentina) has been at Bath, I’m a touch cautious.
Boyce is still raw, but has lots of potential and I’m frustrated to see him going when I really don’t think he’s improving his prospects.
-
I don't think it is guitar tin but Marr tin. I think that is a photo of Johnny Marr from the Smiths...
No his name translates directly as “guitar tin”.
His nickname is Fender.
-
Well the third clue is pretty straight forward, a certain Italian centre me thinks
-
And an early start with Campagnaro this morning!
-
I wonder if we'll get another announcement as this ones come out pretty early in the day
-
I wonder if we'll get another announcement as this ones come out pretty early in the day
The wording on Insta suggests there will be more than one today: "let's kick things off with..."
Exciting week for us! Hope we keep the 2 per day up. 10 decent signings feels about right in terms of the Gussy "quality over quantity" model.
-
I would be surprised if we dont see at least 2 everyday this week. 10/11 sounds about right
-
At what point will the departures be announced?
-
At what point will the departures be announced?
They haven't mentioned this but I would imagine shortly after the final signing is announced or maybe even at the end of the season.
-
I vaguely remember something in Deano's era when there was almost nothing until the end of the season.
-
https://www.sport24.co.za/Rugby/SuperRugby/sa-rugby-faces-mass-exodus-after-world-cup-20190318
"Fifteen of them have already signed deals with overseas teams.
The 15 players are Stormers trio Eben Etzebeth (Toulon, France), EW Viljoen (Leicester Tigers, England) and Dillyn Leyds (Wasps, England); Bulls quartet RG Snyman (Jonda Heat, Japan), Eli Snyman (Treviso, Italy), Hendre Stassen (Stade Francais, France) and Duane Vermeulen (Kubota Spears, Japan); Sharks quintet Jacques Vermeulen (Exeter Chiefs, England), Akker van der Merwe, Jean-Luc du Preez, Dan du Preez and Robert du Preez (all Sale Sharks, England); and Lions trio Stephan Lewies (Harlequins), Andries Ferreira (already joined the Hurricanes in New Zealand) and Nic Groom (Edinburgh, Scotland)."
Lewies would fit the Arniepie of South African lock playing in Japan
-
That's a strange one - they have Snyman going to Honda Heat, but he's already there...
-
Fissler said at one point that Snyman was the SA lock coming to us. If you look now he says that "I thought I saw he was signing, but could be wrong". Maybe we are getting both!!!! Thats 4 locks we are linked with now!!!
-

And this is the Twitter thread for anyone interested: https://twitter.com/neilfissler/status/1107634365494894592
Reads to me like he's just covering himself in case it doesn't come to pass - like anyone dealing in rumours does pretty much all the time. So I'm still hopeful. Snyman is the one I want to see. The other locks all feel like a bit of a let down.
-
So we sign Martin Landau and Stephen Lewis. Someone really likes 1970s TV shows.
-
Baldwin next
-
Yup... https://twitter.com/Harlequins/status/1108005206481080322
-
I reckon that will be it today. Tomorrow maybe Young/Evans. Thursday a SA Lock (Whichever one it turns out to be) and maybe Heron. Friday ??. Maybe the rumoured Kiwis from RIL will appear!?!?!
-
So, 4 in so far. 4 internationals, a couple with experience of winning titles, all at a decent age, no projects just players that can make an immediate impact. Whats not to like.
-
Ferreira has been released by the Hurricanes already I believe without playing a match.
-
Impressed with the 4 signings so far
PG building a squad that should be able to compete in the Premiership and Champions Cup and that's all any of us can ask for!
-
very pleased so far, and more excited as there's more to come. saving the best till last?
-
That's a strange one - they have Snyman going to Honda Heat, but he's already there...
He's with The Bulls; the leagues' timetables don't overlap so it's possible to play in both.
-
He's with The Bulls; the leagues' timetables don't overlap so it's possible to play in both.
I get that, which is why I'm confused as to why they're saying he's going to Honda Heat - he's been playing for them since 2017. Unless the implication is that he's going to stop playing for Bulls and just focus on Heat? Either way, can he just come here please and thank you.
-
I just have a feeling we might get 3 today. We haven't had the "see you tomorrow" post yet... Could we see another guessing game in just over 5 mins? Or 1 hr 5 mins... or 2 hrs 5 mins...?
-
I would take a wild guess and say 2 a day with maybe the exception of friday, where we may get 3 to round the week off???
-
Yeah, I'm just way too excited. Someone tranquilise me for crying out loud.
-
Yeah, I'm just way too excited. Someone tranquilise me for crying out loud.
The think I popped in your drink should kick in shortly
-
I think Glen Young is going to be the next announcement. Maybe it's lock day. Snyman this afternoon?
-
It's Glenn Someone, that's for sure....
https://twitter.com/Harlequins/status/1108292093548478467
-
Yeah definitely Glen Young. Preparing myself for the news that the Snyman rumour was the only one that was wide of the mark.
-
From the picture, I'm guessing Baby Bunny Boiler
-
According to this we're getting Will Evans later: https://twitter.com/RugbyInsideLine/status/1108304149018562561

Yeah, he was one of the first rumours to do the rounds and has consistently been brought up...

Potentially 3 announcements today then?

What a day to be alive.

Except the article is from January. Do keep up old boy!
-
Except the article is from January. Do keep up old boy!
Oh.
In that case fine.
-
I think with the timing of this one there will be at least one more today at around 1400.
-
Clutching at straws here for clues as to which other rumours are due to come true but...
Trajectory of name recognition of the players has been generally downward from the start of the week, you could argue (Botta aside). So do we think...
A. The other second row is going to be Lewies/another relative unknown and the other signings will be mostly squad players - which would be in line with current trajectory...
OR...
B. The end of the week = up-the-ante-again time and we get Snyman + rumoured All Black(s)?
Either way, this week has been a blast. But definitely option B please.
-
I could be wrong, but I get the impression the announcements are grouped in loose themes - i.e. the two Argentines on Monday, two NH internationals yesterday and two, possibly three English players today (Herron as a possible third). Hopefully, tomorrow is SA day and we announce Snyman and Lewies and Friday is forvthe surprise Kiwis RIL was talking about.
-
I would be surprised if we only saw "Squad players" from here on in. Looking at the potential outgoings rumoured, to the incomings so far, I would guess there is a decent bit of cap space left, esp as PG spoke of quality over quantity. I still believe there will be a surprise pop up along the way
-

I think it's really unlikely we'll see two SA second rows now. In fact, I find it unlikely we'll see more than one more second row, wherever they're from. But following your thematic reading, maybe Kwagga Smith + one of Snyman/Lewies? That'd be good...
What fun we're having.
-
Kwagga Smith is unlikely I think. Particularly now Evans has been confirmed.
I love Smith as a player, but if it’s him or Snyman, I think we need the latter a lot more.
-
Stephen Lewies at 3.00
-
Damn, there goes Snyman.
-
Interesting that he only recently moved to the Lions (from the Sharks).
https://www.sport24.co.za/Rugby/SuperRugby/lewies-relishes-new-lease-on-life-at-lions-20190201
Interview is not that old.
-
Is he actually any good?
-
See "Stephan Lewies" thread for highlights reel - seems suitably South African at least...
-
He's big, and he was good enough to play for the Boks at least once. Can't be all that bad. I still hope we're getting Snyman, I was told that it was a certainty.
-
Anyone guess the latest? 3 pictures are:
Simon Cowell, Danny Care
Rod Stewart

Simon Kerrod, south african tighthead from worcester
-
Who is Simon dickrod?
-
Simon Kerrod, south african tighthead from worcester
I wasn't even close on this one!
-
And there was me thinking we'd signed someone called obnoxious, scrum-half, fake-scot
-
Simon Kerrod makes a lot more sense than my guess of Knobhead Legend McKnobhead
-
Can only guess that means Swainston and McNulty are doing the offs.
Sink, Collier, Kerrod, Josh and Sassone
-
I'm hoping that means we're on for another 3 signings today - otherwise it could be a very underwhelming day.
-
Kerrod was highly-rated prior to joining Worcester but made no impact there whatsoever. Hopefully a bit of opportunity means it’s a different story at Quins!
-

We have done well with some previous underperformers - Crumpton and Symons being the latest to come here and really up their performance levels. So I'm hopeful!
-
So thats 8. Is it too much to expect 2 more today and 3 tomorrow. 13 in total. I guessed we could see 17/18 outgoing so that would still be the smaller squad scenario.
-
I'm definitely up for that. But realistically I feel like we only really NEED to see another LH prop, FH, FB, maybe no.8...
-
I'm definitely up for that. But realistically I feel like we only really NEED to see another LH prop, FH, FB, maybe no.8...
Do we need a full back?
Brown is first choice and Morris looks like a solid back up. Ross Chisholm has been picked by Gustard on the wing but also covers FB pretty well.
-
Not disagreeing with you but, as it stands we have the same amount of FB next season as we do this year. Brown, Morris and Chis. Cant see them being involved with England next season so that looks good to me. LH, Boyce, Marler, Auterac and Head. Swap Boyce for Botta and we are in the same position (Ive not counted Lambert as I get the impression he is not really in line to play). The question mark cuold be over Auterac though, as he has not really played that much at all. **
**Cue the next two signings being a FB and Loosehead
-
In terms of Gussy's quality over quantity approach I don't read that as necessarily "we had 2.5 FBs this season so we won't have 3/3.5 for next season". As well as the quality not quantity remark, Gussy also said the squad was unbalanced - so we might see more leavers in one position and more additions in another, to bring the squad into a more balanced state. Obviously that's down to Gussy's reading and the above is just my opinion on where I think I personally might like the next announcements to fit. But one thing this week has reaffirmed for me is that he's the man and I completely trust him to build a serious squad.
-
I feel like we could see a FH who can also cover FB if necessary. That would do the trick for me. Cipriani for example (although unlikely I know!)
-
We have done well with some previous underperformers - Crumpton and Symons being the latest to come here and really up their performance levels. So I'm hopeful!
That's a bit harsh on Symons - he was pretty highly rated when he joined Wasps but had a lot of bad luck with injuries - I'd say since coming to Quins and staying injury free he's reverted to his norm rather than previously being an under performer.
Agree that we don't need another fullback in the context of managing a squad under the salary cap.
-
Looks like Tom Lawday coming up at midday
-
Lawday would be good competition with Dombrant for the 8 shirt. But also suggests that Luamanu and Bothma have fallen down the pecking order.
Other possibility is that Clifford could be on his way out and we need extra bodies in the back row.
-
Clifford re-signed :) Was the most relieving re-signing for me.
-

Clifford only signed a new contract about a month ago didn't he?
-
And Luamanu is gone I reckon. Think Bothma will still be in contract for next season?
-
Believe Luamanu is off to France...
-
Clifford only signed a new contract about a month ago didn't he?
So he did. My mistake. Blimey - real competition for places there next season:
Robshaw, Dombrant, Chis, Evans, Bothma, Kunatani, Lawday, Clifford.
Pick three from that lot.
-
Kunatani was only a year long contract, in as injury dispensation
-
Robbo is 33 this year so I'd imagine PG will be looking to manage his game time more and more to ensure that he can operate as 1.5 players minimum. Plus with Luamanu going, another body is probably needed in the back row.
-
Lawday really has moved from one competitive back row to another though. Gotta feel for him a bit - does he know what he's got himself into? Looks handy but we have real quality there. Still, from a selfish point-of-view I feel like we did need an extra no. 8 (and ideally one who doubles up as flanker) so for our squad depth, this is perfect.
-

I'd like to see more in the 10 position so that maybe Lang could cover FB too.
-
It's a good point. I'm still not sure where Lang's long term best position is. Could be 15, but I'm thinking more likely 12. He hasn't convinced me at 10 yet, but I do like him as a player generally.
-
Thought Visser has looked good when he played 15
-

If he’s still here next season I’ll be stunned.
I did think that, although sure he is still under contract (although as I have pointed out myself, I am not sure that means a great deal) If he and Walker are off, there is a good chance that we will bring another winger in.
-
Decent squad filler.
-
So far we appear to have e strengthens our bench and the wider squad. Would love to see a lock and an experienced 10 who can push for 1st XV this afternoon or tomorrow.
-

I think Lewies was your first XV lock so don't hold your breath on that one. Herron from Jersey Reds meant to be the incoming 10.
-
Toby Freeman next. Another lock
-
Yawn. Definitely the most underwhelming signing. Definitely no Snyman. See you all tomorrow!
-
Think that must all but rule out Snyman as a possibility.
-

Is Stephan Lewies better than Toby Freeman?

Must admit I was surprised by this one but, if its good enough for PG, im in.
-

Didn't Fissler say it may now be next season?

Didn't Fissler say it may now be next season?
Is there a link to that one? Unfortunately Fissler blocked me

Oh did he? Didn't notice that but great if true.
-
https://twitter.com/neilfissler/status/1108407311310209029
But think it's just a cop-out version of "I got that one wrong". The rumour was South African lock, playing in Japan. Of which there aren't many and Snyman was the most high profile. Which is probably why Fissler and others put 2 and 2 together to make 5. Snyman isn't coming this year or next, I don't think. Would be weird for us to sign him a year in advance. Has that ever been done?
-
Maybe next season is Horwills last and we're looking to replace him with Snyman? Just a random thought.
-
I guess it could be possible. He would cost a hell of a lot of money and not be around until December. He is I expect also on a pretty hefty wage in Japan. It could work for all involved. He gets another season of mega money in japan, we keep our cash dry until he is available for a longer period. Plus i do not know if there would be any consequences to his Int career (world cup) if he joined us now???
-
Maybe next season is Horwills last and we're looking to replace him with Snyman? Just a random thought.
Either way can't see Horwill being around after next season - he's 34 in May and that's tough as a lock even without his recent injury list.
-
If he’s still here next season I’ll be stunned.
Spoke to him on Saturday, says he will be staying and has one last season before retirement
-

Hope he gets some game time then -- did he let anything on about what's been happening? Everyone, even players who like him, refer to him as weird.
-
Hopefully we’re saving our big signings for tomorrow.
All seem like good squad players, but I’d like to see at least one top name.
-
He has been injured for a long time
-
Hope he gets some game time then -- did he let anything on about what's been happening? Everyone, even players who like him, refer to him as weird.
Has been injured for a while. He seemed normal enough and said that he got on with Gustard but didn't want to chat much about life at Quins
-
Fissler all of a sudden gone quiet. So smug when he gets one right, goes silent when he's wrong or doesn't get one, then usually gets abusive.
Throw enough of the proverbial and some will stick
-
Toby Freeman is the 10th signing - bit of an odd one for me given his age.
-

Barring Synman he did get all of the others.

I know it’s looking more and more unlikely, but I’m still holding hope that we sign Cipriani. Great cover for 10 & 15 as TomBuckQuin mentioned above

Don't know him at all, plenty of second rows now
-
Barring Synman he did get all of the others.
Yes.
Quins are going to sign EVERYBODY tomorrow.
-
I suppose he's an extra body with Glynn and Merrick off. Will trust PG on this one - haven't seen enough of him to pass comment.
-
So, will it be 2 or 3 tomorrow, maybe more?? Heron still to be announced?? Freeman was called by RIL, so they picked that correct. They also said a few kiwis.
-

Also Young and Lawday to be fair to him/them
-
Not so excited by today's, lets hope tomorrows are better fro the end of the week and I can break my Leanten fast with a celebratory glass of wine tomorrow in celebration.
-
We have done well with some previous underperformers - Crumpton and Symons being the latest to come here and really up their performance levels. So I'm hopeful!
The all time great Quins turnarounds were Mike Ross, Olly Kohn, and Will Greenwood.

Not sure about Greenwood. I know he had fallen out of favour at Tigers, but it's not like he didn't have pedigree before we re-signed him

I think supporters tend to have unrealistic expectations in this area. The budget and salary cap prohibit a club bringing in loads of big name players, so instead you tend to get some 'development project' players who are probably young and may be stepping up a level - unless supporters are real students of tier 2, they probably won't have heard of these players and therefore may not be excited, even though some of them may become really exciting in time. Or if they are more proven, then people say they are too old (as someone has about Freeman aged 31, even though that's probably around prime age for a lock). Or they are moving sideways from another Prem club where perhaps they haven't settled, but the acquiring club discerns potential - again, potential is less exciting than YouTube videos of a player wowing on the international stage...
-
I think the mix has been about right tbh. Botta and Lodajo are clearly quality and will fight for the 1 and 9 shirt allowing real squad rotation. Leweis looks promising if his highlight reel is to go by, certainly allow rotation with Symons and Horwill. Young, Evans and Lawday are exciting young players who should develop well and push for places. I think Freeman is to replace Glynn. I would like to see another bigger name but think our Marquee player is still taken by Horwill (could be wrong).
-
Barring Synman he did get all of the others.
He did also predict Gussy was off to Leicester!
-
I like watching him and RIL trying to out do each other
-
Will we finish off with a big name or will it be an anticlimax? Surely you leave your best to last, don't you?
-
He did also predict Gussy was off to Leicester!
Lolz ok I think he just said he was approached....
-
Have I been blocked or is Fissler's Twitter down?

That is a bit odd
-
Just remembered there will be a team announcement today at 12:00 so my guess is that with that being the social post in the middle of the day we've only got one more signing to come...
Question is: who's it gonna be? All of Fissler and RIL's rumours have been and gone so this one is a better kept secret. Will it be that elusive Kiwi?
-
Or we will double up this afternoon. RIL said a "few" kiwis. Anyways, that can wait, Lunch beckons and it is a nice day out there!!
-
Maybe that's it for new signings.
-
Care said "We are into the final stretch of our batch of new signings" I expect more today. I also think we will be pleasantly surprised!!
-
The social post this morning was "we're into our final stretch" - which would suggest more than 1. I'm hoping for 2 more but possibly more likely just 1 more...
-
Right -- there's got to be a big finish hasn't there?
Can't just announce all the internationals on day one and leave nothing for the end.
-
Do we know who is leaving apart from Ward Alofa , Boyce and Merrick
if you look at the team for tomorrow the finishers and those "unavailable" that still leaves the following "squad " players
Luke Baldwin
Max Crumpton
Josh Ibunokpa
Semi
James Lang
Paul Lasike
Matt Luamanu
Francis saili
Stan south
Phil Swainston
Tim Visser
Walker
and
Wallace
who don't get a mention
are the majority on the way out?
-
Saili is in contract I believe (and hope!)
Baldwin was a short term loan - believe he's already gone (or going).
Crumpton is in contract. So is big Josh. So is Stan South.
Lang re-signed in the recent batch of re-signings.
Someone on here suggested Visser is around for one more year before retiring.
The rest are leavers as far as I know...
-
My guess at potential offs
Lambert, Boyce, Ward, McNulty, Swainston, Merrick, Glynn, Wallace, Luamanu, Mulchrone, Lewis, Alofa, Walker, The Cat, Buchanan, Cheeseman and Waters
Semi and Lasike (Deals run out)
Im not saying they will all go (The cat for example is still in contract) but I expect most to. Someone like Cheeseman, probably 50/50
-
The other two I'd have question marks about there are Buchanan and Waters - but the silence around them does probably suggest they're off. Unfortunately - I really like both of them. Gutted for Buchanan that he has had to deal with such a serious, prolonged injury and sounds like Waters has had some sad stuff to deal with away from rugby.
Maybe Semi will stay but I think unlikely.

Who the hell is Luke North Moore?
-
Last signing trail has been posted on twitter:
https://twitter.com/Harlequins/status/1109092365875056640
Edit: Ooops, crossed postings. Is there a player called Luke Arrow-Please?!?!?
-
Okay, well you've had all your big names...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTPvc_IEy1g
-
Who is Luke northmore?
-
Outside centre for Cardiff Met RFC. (Cheers Google)
But, Care said "Final new signing, did anyone get all 12" weve only had 11, this is the 12th!!!
-
Weird. Maybe Saili is leaving then. Really hope not!
-
Just please please please don't tell me Marchant is leaving. Starting to worry now about who we're losing in the centres.
-
That was all a bit weird.
-
Yes, Luke north something is being brought in to replace sailing or marchant.
-
Pretty sure Tapuai would be on more than a one year deal. If Marchant was going (not that I think he will) I expect there would have been rumours. Salli is possible but I think it was mentioned on here that he is still under contract.
-
Yes, Luke north something is being brought in to replace sailing or marchant.
Not suggesting that. But Campagnaro + this guy, when we already have really good depth at centre - something doesn't add up.
-
Alofa is leaving and probably Cheeseman? So like for like replacements
-
I certainly don't see marchant leaving. Is saili out of contract?
We have Lang (part time), saili and tapui at 12. Campagnaro and marchant 13. Plus a few utility players. Not sure anyone has to be leaving because we've signed a guy who has been playing for Cardiff met.
Anyway, what an odd way to finish. Guess the kiwis, snyman and cips were never in the offing.
-
There's a centre at Cardiff met called luke northmore
-
Marchant signed a "New and Extended" deal in July 2017. End of the season it would only have been 2 years. Plus he plays every game under PG. Salli also signed in 2017 (June) to a "Long term" deal.
-
Must say I expected a bigger name to end the week. Anyways, been a good week I would say, some really good additions to the squad.
-

Who knows? There's the outside possibility that they're holding back a couple of really BIG name announcements to make a splash on their own, rather than in a group like the 12 that've come out this week. That said, it looks like Gussy is working towards a squad where we have consistency between the players that are either battling for a starting position (like in the centres now) or who are the potential back-ups for sure starters (in the case of scrum-halfs, props, etc), rather than relying on a smattering of star names and hoping they don't get injured.
-
Both possible. Which begs the question why bother with all this nonsense. We've signed these 12 players who we think will improve the squad.
Or do this carry on if you have a climax.
-

It would also be very odd to have Marchant announcing the new signings alongside Earle, Robshaw and Marler if he was indeed leaving.....

Did you put the colours in with the whites or something Rodders? Lighten up...

Could also be a case that one or two bigger earners that the club thought may be going ended up staying (Clifford comes to mind, plus there were rumours over the Sink)
-
Yeah, the fact that no "big names" are leaving that we know of means you'd have to say it's a net gain overall.
-
Slightly odd imo to start with a bang and end with a whimper. Don't know if the vast majority of the signings so looking forward to seeing what they can do. As something said earlier on, you can sign 12 world class internationals unless you have a rich backer willing to set up companies for them and then invest in those companies
-
overall some good additions and improvements, odd strategy to releasing names if it's done but still, we've made some good changes, wasn't expecting a load of world class players!
-
Well well well a lot of announcements and I hope they all strengthen the squad not sure how many if them would make my first 15 POSs Baldwin at hooker and Campagnaro and the 9 on the bench but that is about it
-
RugbyPaper says we made an approach for Cipriani, but we need to off-load Cat before bringing him in - also states he has a break clause of £190,000 in his 2nd season (so next season)
Link: https://www.therugbypaper.co.uk/latest-news/32322/danny-cipriani-wanted-by-bath-bristol-harlequins/

I'm actually very excited that our bench will now have serious firepower. Currently, our 16, 19, 21, 22 and 23 are often a bit of a weakness for us.
Compare Alofa coming off the bench to Campagnaro. Or Horwill as opposed to Glynn. Landajo versus Dave Lewis. Doesn't really compare does it?
On paper, this is a 23 we could see regularly next season - find the weaknesses...
1 Marler
2 Baldwin
3 Sinckler
4 Symons
5 Lewies
6 Robshaw
7 Clifford
8 Dombrandt
9 Care
10 Smith
11 Ibitoye
12 Saili
13 Marchant
14 Earle
15 Brown
16 Crumpton
17 Botta
18 Kerrod/Collier
19 Horwill
20 Chisholm/Evans
21 Landajo
22 Herron/Lang
23 Campagnaro
-
I thought Cipriani was OOC this season, he only signed a one year deal at Gloucs (On a reduced wage) to see if he could make the World cup squad
-
Id have Murley over Gabs at the mo
-
Id have Murley over Gabs at the mo
Fair enough, different strokes. While that would be my favoured starting 15, lots of that starting XV could easily be swapped about - Taps in for Saili, Murley for Gabs, Horwill starting instead of one of the locks, Evans starting at 7 and Chis at 6/8 etc...
The overall point remains - the 23 is much stronger on paper.
-
Campagnaro for Alofa
Northmore for Cheeseman probably.
-
Campagnaro for Alofa
Northmore for Cheeseman probably.
Yeah makes sense now I've been put in my place. Good business.
-
That teamsheet is absolute class. I can't wait to see that.
-
What's with matching Kerrod and Collier? Very odd!
-
Collier is solid, but doesn't offer anything outstanding around the park. Kerrod is meant to be decent and should push for that bench spot where McNulty/Swainston were never going to.
-
According to Worcs board, Kerrods defence is shocking. He will have some way to displace Collier for me. Fighting with Josh for 3rd spot
-
I've never knowingly seen Kerrod play but I would suggest he's nowhere near Collier. Plus Collier has been far more prominent in the loose this season.
-
That's odd. His twitter account doesn't exist.
Still no sign of Fissler's Twitter account (@neilfissler) = curious
-

Methinks you massively underestimate collier.

Is this correct, Monye in commentary today said, regarding our signings "I expect there to be a few more" ?
-
The signings are numerous without being spectacular and still no sign of this NZ link being any more than a commercial deal as said I’m not sure if any would get into our first choice 15
-
Is this correct, Monye in commentary today said, regarding our signings "I expect there to be a few more" ?
He said ‘We expect there to be a few more’ but didn’t elaborate.
-
He said ‘We expect there to be a few more’ but didn’t elaborate.
Perhaps and only speculation, it could be dependent on players leaving early from their contracts to bring a few more signings in.
-
That was my thought also
-
Read something in the metro about Quins being in for Cipriani but already have three FH’s and wondered whether the Catrakilis was refusing to be released from his contract. Why would you if you’re on a big money deal even if you never play another game. Any pay off comes under the cap so that option is probably out. Would have to rely on a better deal elsewhere to tempt him away.
-
Still no sign of Fissler's Twitter account (@neilfissler) = curious
He popped up to say thanks for messages of concern, he's fine, just bored of twitter

Yes, I assume so. I don't follow him, so not sure of the details, but it certainly has the hallmarks of a flounce
-
Unless the Cat is going to Japan - as rumoured in a couple of places then I can't see us having much room to bring in many more players under the cap - assuming that Semi and Lasike are injury jokers then we've almost brought in as many players as we're likely to lose.
1. Landajo - Lewis
2. Botta Garcia - Boyce
3. Capagnaro - Alofa
4. Baldwin - Ward + Buchannon

7. Lawday - Luamanu

A sense of decency? I recall we had a SA 2nd row Botha I Think a few years ago who was getting on - had a serious injury and said he was going to retire so said we could annul the contract.
Sadly however you are correct we are stuck until his contract ends.
Heard from someone last year who knows Cats family that his near death experience affected him to the extent that he was unlikely to be able to play again. In that instance if it was me I like to think I would say I cannot do this I am not fit for purpose so to speak so give me a couple of months money and I will be off.
How can he turn up to training and think he has the respect of other players when he know he is not going to be involved in any meaningful way. In fact what is the point of him going to training.

I'd suggest that the fact he was on the bench this weekend means your information is either old or incorrect. He wouldn't be on the bench if what you've described is the reality of the situation.

Only Boyce, Alofa, Merrick have been confirmed so far I think. But if Walker's here next season I'll streak in the first 10 mins of the first home game.

Bookmarked.

May have missed this-but is there a complete list of all our new signings for next season? Would like to know which club they have come from and position they are going to play.
