Title: More woe for the Salary Hens.
Post by: guest694 on Friday 29-Nov-2019, 19:46*
You may recall one of my first posts on here being about me having a disability which renders me much like a Dalek - good on the flat but crap with stairs.

Last year I attended the Game Changer at London Stadium having booked the tickets via London Stadium after having given proof of my eligibility for a personal assistant. With this in mind I applied to Tottenham for eligibility as a disabled customer that requires a personal assistant. I provided all the relevant evidence and satisfied their criteria just as I did at London Stadium last year. I then went to the Saracens website where they had an option to buy a disabled ticket (full price) with a FREE ticket for a personal assistant to accompany me.

I received a call today from someone at Saracens regarding the 2 tickets I ordered for the March game at Stade Toilette. It was a heated exchange which basically went along the lines of them telling me that I didn’t satisfy Saracens’ criteria for such seating despite me doing everything I could based on my experience of last year...

It was at this point that the frustrated Sarries executive explained that last year the allocation of these ’free’ tickets had gone completely unmonitored and was massively exploited costing the club... I dunno... a wing-forward or should I say a 2 bedroom semi in Wantage maybe! Moreover, having had their fingers burnt last year on the topic, they have now got pages of people this year who have once again applied for the personal assistant complimentary ticket without the club vetting their eligibility.

Money to burn or just scrabbling to recoup the £5m lost... So now, genuine disabled rugby supporters are being targeted because the club cannot organise a pyramid scheme in a beauty parlour.

Targeting disabled customers to cover the £5 million fine? You couldn't make it up, could you? Clearly Saracens have no PR department worthy of the name. But then, they have no morals worthy of the name either.

The only sympathy I have (and it's not much ... it passes fairly quickly) is for the poor souls who have to market Saracens to the public at the moment.

I hope Saracens are getting a public pasting for this in Twitter-sphere.

If they screwed up royally last year, that's their problem. Any club has the right to vet the sale of their discounted tickets, but that shouldn't be so tight it prevents genuine cases from getting tickets. Is there not a note from a doctor or a picture of a blue badge or something that would swing it? If all else fails write to DarkLord@Saracens and explain to Nigel Wray what the problem is. I've often found people at the top of an organisation more flexible than their underlings.

My only comment would be that a 2-bed semi in Wantage probably wouldn't get you the price of much more than a good squad player nowadays! I can say that having lived *in* Wantage since '04!

Thanks for the replies as well as a private message offering assistance on game days at Fortress Stoop. For my own part, although I don’t meet Saracen’s eligibility criteria, I did meet Tottenham’s and London Stadium’s and was able to demonstrate good faith in my actions so they allowed me to keep my tickets as booked. They did say I won’t be eligible next year though, to which I retorted that given that their eligibility criteria stinks as much as their attitude towards the salary cap I wouldn’t be giving them any more of my hard earned dough anyway.

The original point wasn’t so much complaining about the eligibility criteria for complimentary/discounted tickets as it was about Saracens having their pants pulled down last year only to go and do the same thing this year. I’d really love to know how many ‘Personal Assistant’ tickets they needlessly issued last year. And now some poor soul has the onerous task or calling each and every person that has booked a disabled ticket with a complimentary Personal Assistant ticket to challenge their eligibility. As Bucksquin says, sympathy might be afforded to those having to work for such a shower.

I always thought that they gave thousands of tickets away so that Wembley or wherever would have more than 20,000 people rattling around in it. I don’t know which is more shabby, Salarycens or the people falsely claiming those tickets.
