So based on my knowledge (very little) about availability for Saturday here’s how I see us lining up:
1. Marler
2. Elia Elia
3. Collier
4. Symons
5. South
6. Robshaw
7. Wallace
8. Bothma
9. Care
10. Smith
11. Walker
12. Lang
13. Marchant
14. Earle
15. Brown
Game changers
16. Crumpton
17. Auterac
18. Swainston
19. Glynn
20. Ward
21. Mulchrone
22. Tuapai
23. Chisholm Snr or Ibitoye
I can see Visser fighting his way into the team if he’s over the man flu he had and I’d assume Horwill if fit will play too.
That still leaves Sink, Baby Chis, Cat, Sialli, Alofa, Dombrant to come back/into the team.

What has happened to Merrick? Would of thought he would start over South.

Ye Gods that's an average looking side

Ye Gods that's an average looking side
That's generous. I think Quins aspire to be able to put out an average side.
-
Ye Gods that's an average looking side
I don't think so. On paper I think it is a decent side, problem is they have not been playing up to the level they should be. International FR, Exciting backs with plenty of pace. Problem has been the sum of the parts not living up to it. The bench is not great but I think that a few of the players missing will be available.

When I went into the Honours Bar last night Merrick was hobbling out with an injury boot on , along with Luamanu ... presumably they had been doing a Q and A in there , don't know if he gave an update .. anyone hear it ?

It ought to be a very exciting side. Maybe the locks are average (but that's not a bad thing) but front and back row look good. That should be a good attacking back line. On paper, a tough side to beat. On grass...?
-
I think one key will be whether the Cat is close to game fitness. If he is, I could see us starting with Lang at 10, Cat on the bench. If our 12s are all fit, I'd prefer to have a straight 12 rather than a 10/12 as Inside Centre.

Homophobic. Reported.
-
Chatted to George, Matt and since and all three will be available for next week.
I would go
Marler
Crumpton
Sinckler
Symons
Merrick
Robshaw
Wallace
Bothma
Care
Smith
Walker
Lang
Marchant
Earle
Brown

Homophobic. Reported.
Quite right, too!

Homophobic. Reported.
If that's in reference to my using the phrase "straight 12", I meant a player who plays only as an Inside Centre, rather than a player who plays as a 10 or a 12. There was certainly no element of homophobic abuse meant.
-
Don't worry, I'm sure it was a joke. :)

I hope so! I certainly would not wish to be thought of as in any way homophobic.
-
I an sure that Rodney was having a joke FF.

Rodders does occasionally try his hand at humour. Difficult to spot I know..

Yes, it was of course a joke.

Kev?
-
Horwill's nickname.
-
I think players wear boots sometimes more as a precaution, if they have a niggle. Its like the ultimate accessory after some games, boots everywhere!!!
-
Given our affiliation, I assume they were hunters? Very reasonable, apparently.
-
I reckon:
1. Marler
2. Elia
3. Collier
4. Symons
5. South
6. Robshaw
7. Wallace
8. Bothma
9. Care
10. Smith
11. Visser
12. Tapuai
13. Marchant (if fit)
14. Walker
15. Brown
16. Ward
17. Boyce
18. Sinkler
19. Dombrandt
20. ? Depends on fitness. White / Luamanu / Kunatani.
21. Lewis
22. Lang
23. Earle

FGs PC gone mad.
Not the initial comment that was clearly a joke but the responses from people who took it seriously.
Let us all stop saying the word straight in case it offends anyone. Incredible.
-
Ye Gods that's an average looking side
I would be delighted with average. That is a side that looks doomed for relegation.
As for who will start -- as usual Clifford, Salli, Chisholm, Cat will not start. They will play a game around November, get injured and as usual be out for the rest of the season. Some players are just blighted by injury through no fault of their own but they are a drain on the club.

Literally no one took it seriously or posted that they did other than the OP who wasn't sure for a moment.

Clifford and Saili are sicknotes. Chisholm I seem to recall playing a heap of matches for us last season, and before his frankly terrifying throat break I don't think Cat was considered an injury risk.
-
Yeah where has this weird thing about Chisholm being one of the chronically crocked come from? My player of the season last season. Played consistently stoically.
-
Maybe they are getting confused with his older, smaller brother?
-

Tough Crowd in tonight! I reckon its better than being a moaning minnie though even if its not side splitting.

On paper it’s a solid team:
Front row all internationals with the Sinck on the bench
Second row if Horwill plays not so sad
Back row pretty solid if Robshaw has had a decent rest
Halfbacks potential to be brilliant, potential to run sideways and panic
Centres probably the weakest area of the team but Sales centres are not the greatest either
Back 3 pretty strong.
That said if the team plays like last year they’ll get smashed!
-
WE're gonna get mullered.

Yeah, a bit harsh in hindsight!

Our (Sale) centres aren't Nonu and Smith but I think you're doing them a disservice. Sam James has arguably been our most consistent player of the past couple of seasons. Plenty of calls for him to have been included in international squads over somebody like Francis. We may also play his younger brother Luke who acquitted himself well last season - especially as he's only 19. Played in the Prem 9 time last season and I don't remember him being shown up.
Of course if RJvR was fit....
For balance, I think we'll probably go with:
Harrison Webber John - basically our first choices
Evans Beaumont - also first choices
Ross Strauss T. Curry - decent back row
Cliff - solid but not Faf
AJ - coming more and more into his own
James x2 - see above
Yarde McGuigan Denny - potent attacking back three
The weaknesses will be that Cliff isn't Faf so there is more pressure on AJ to create and the bench is likely to have some untested talent on there.
-
A game on Monday night should be an interesting selection with the players not considered for Sale game and those on the bench. Could be a good squad.
-
Yareet I wasn’t knocking Sales centres but certainly don’t think the 2 James’ are the strongest are strongest area of your team. I have to say if Sale has a full strength side available I’d be quite pessimistic about our chances- but I think you’re missing a couple of key players which just about gives Quins the edge. Either way it should be a close game.

When I was doing my prep ahead of the fantasy rugby draft I realised that across the league the centre partnerships that most clubs will be fielding are nothing to get excited about...
The exceptions for me were actually only Tigers (Toomua/Tuilagi) and Quins (Saili/Marchant). With the obvious added problem that Tuilagi and Saili are injured most of the time.
Imo it feels like centre is an area of mediocrity for most clubs. Maybe they just don't prioritise it?
-
Toomua has left Tigers.
-
Think he's leaving at the end of this season, no?
-
I thought he'd gone. I'm probably wrong.
-
Toomua is leaving at the end of the 18/19 season.

Te’o and Venter at Warriors?
-
Te'o overrated for me but Venter looks useful.
-
Te'o spends a lot of time injured as well.
