Danny lost his rag at Thomond Park and was sent off after29 minutes now will the journos understand?
-
I thought he was sent off for a high tackle.
-
He didn't lose his rag at all. It was careless, and before the crackdown on head shots it would have been a nothing incident.
-
Absolutely ridiculous card. Hate the bloke tbh but that was an awful decision
-
Unfortunately for Cips the other player dipped and as a result his shoulder made contact with the head. However still a red in light of the current interpretation of the tackle laws.
-
Players dipping into contact is no excuse, given it's what happens in the vast majority of tackle situations.
Cipriani tried to make a tackle while leading with his right shoulder and making no effort to wrap with the right arm. Shoulder -> jaw. Red card was fair.
-
What makes ball carriers think they have the right not to run upright into contact?
-
Gloucester’s captain, Ed Slater, said: “The referee said he felt there was shoulder contact to the head. For him that was enough to give a red card. He is the referee. Whether I agree with it or not doesn’t matter. There were a few high shots during the game. I’m trying to work out what makes that one a lot more serious than some of the others.”
me too!

Probably because there was no attempt to wrap.
-
But deliberately wrapping around someone’s neck is ok is it?

He didn’t - and no.
-
Wrapping the arms wouldn't have saved him if the shoulder still hit the head.
As Flatman said at HT, we're going to go through some pain (i.e. 'controversial' red cards) until we get to a safer game. It's more to do with grassroots game than the professionals and protecting youngsters/amateurs.

My main problem is that CIOs was no where near as bad as the one st the end on Morgan so no consistency
-
That one on the end on Morgan was a seatbelt tackle rather than a shoulder to the jaw. If he'd been clocked in the jaw I'd have expected a red.
