Anyone else getting these this morning? I hope the forum isn't on the way out - maybe we'll need another new home!
-
Yes I got it also
-
I get them from time to time, mostly on the mobile.
-
Only seems to be today that I've been experiencing these. And most of the time I'm on desktop.
-
Had a couple last night but since then it’s been back to normal for me. Odd
-
It may not be the site. Could be your eyes. Maybe stay off the **** for a bit.
-
Seems to be happening a lot today.
-
get them after updating on mobile, laptop unaffected
-
I was getting them on the match thread, but other threads seemed fine? That's on a mobile.
-
Was getting them during the match on android and tablet
-
I've noticed when the white outs happen and you try and reload the page that at the bottom left of the screen it seems to have something to do with "bigestsafe.com" - which I've Google searched and lots of Malware related search results come back. The line I get is often: "Waiting for bigestsafe.com". Don't know if this helps troubleshoot the issue DOK?
-
Had them over the weekend and today; annoying when you are at work and just want a quick catch-up! :)
-
I have been getting them too. Started yesterday.
-
Yeah same here on desktop and phone.
-
Particularly bad at the moment on desktop - DOK - this didn't happen on the old board...
;)
-
Not suffering this. Have reported it and referred to this thread, but as with most IT problems the main one is getting to reproduce the problem to order.

Simple. Tell them to sit next to me when I'm typing a lengthy response on my mobile, then when I hit "send" it's guaranteed to happen...
-
Just had it again on my laptop.
-
A whole minute without CAW? Dear god forgive us!
-
Happening to me as well. Quite a lot. For many days now. Usually when I click on the Board Messages link.
-
I am having problems on iPad it keeps giving me white out and then Inhave to re log in thought it was me!
-
Got it this evening. Solved by clearing cache of cookies and stuff. Will pass that on too.
-
Have disabled the headers and footers, where the support people suspect the problem might be, can you clear your cache and then let me know if it's still happening.
Many thanks.
-
If we clear our cache how will you know if it's that or the headers/footers?!
-
If it's a cache problem, it'll come back. Personally, I still seem to be getting them (having cleared cache) so I'm not convinced either is a solution. But let me know.
-
As soon as I posted the above comment I got another white-out, so it can't be the headers/footers!
-
And if you're running any sort of ad blocker can you turn it off to the point you see adverts again? It seems to run OK on the "edge" browser allowing ads. Not on my chrome browser which doesn't
-
It seems to run OK on the "edge" browser
He used the "e" word... *shudder*
-
Edge isn't a bad browser, to be fair!
-
It’s been flat white for me all morning, and I’m not talking about the coffee. Seems the frequency of them has gotten worse today, anybody suffering more whiteouts today too?
-
Not so far. It seems to have improved having deleted the cache in Firefox.
-
When it happens I just reload a couple of times and its fine.
-
Yup...
I tried clearing history but only thing that really works is repeated logging in to link from my favourites until it pops open...
Not sure what that means, if anything...
-
Same for me as Bolly
-
Having said that, it's working fine at the moment - perhaps a traffic (not on the A316!) thing?
-
Not so far. It seems to have improved having deleted the cache in Firefox.
Scrub that. I guess I just got lucky for a few hours!
-
I've not tried anything. Was fine yesterday evening - just had it again.
-
I've been getting it on and off on Chrome but particularly bad this morning. Just tried Firefox and it worked...🤔
-
Interestingly, I always is the WAP links and I have never had any issues
https://comeallwithin.createaforum.com/general-discussion/?action=unread;wap2
-
It was bad earlier. I'm using adblocker as browser, on an android phone.
-
3 hours of white outs tonight on Android, maybe it's a traffic problem? No problem with opera in laptop
-
Got white-out several times just now.
-
I have disabled all my extensions in chrome, and seem to be getting no white outs.
But of course we've had false dawns before!
-
Working well at the moment - 106 users online - i'll keep checking users online when I am in the site to see if there is a link to whiting out and users surfing...
-
117 users online and for a moment just now I couldn't get anything on laptop or mobile...
-
Only seems to affect this URL: https://comeallwithin.createaforum.com/general-discussion
I was going to post on the old board it's got so bad!
Still getting it lots today.
-
We Want SportNetwork back!!!
-
Still no joy with the "last unread post" button...
-
Can someone who uses chrome try turning off every extension, clearing the cache and then see if they still suffer the problem?
-
Fancy Bears!
-
It happens to me on my iPhone and desktop PC at work. Using completely different systems and totally unrelated to clicking anything.
-
What'd DOK just say?
-
Also experiencing this on safari.
-
Have had real trouble with this “new improved” site/forum for a few weeks I’m afraid. Why did we leave the other site?
-
Also experiencing this on safari.
Stop looking directly at the sun
-
And of course now I turned all chrome extensions back on, I'm not getting the problem. I hate chasing IT problems!
-
Well I don’t use chrome and still get it!
-
I still haven't experienced a single issue when using the wap link. When you next get an issue, try using the WAP link. I suspect that the issue is caused by a badly behaved advert
-

Thanks for the info Mr Gates.

How is your Nanny?

Same here. I tried the full version and did get the problem
-
Here is the wap link
https://comeallwithin.createaforum.com/general-discussion/?wap2
-
Hmmm.... The WAP version certainly doesn't access the advert stream. And as we've seen the issue "randomly" comes and goes and we can't seem to tie it down to a particular set of circumstances. There's a possibility it is a malformed piece of advertising, I guess. Something that seemed to work with edge but not chrome/firefox or other

I just ran that through Google Translate, but still don't know what you're talking about!

That reminds me of the internet in the early 90s.
-
DOK, your advert stream sounds like the most plausible, as it has been a more recent thing. It might help if people could list OS's, browsers and/or devices.
I'm using Android and Chrome on 2 devices. Don't seem to get the issue on Safari on my MacBook.
-
Unfortunately I have a feeling it's their server, not necessarily the adverts. When it occurs, the browser gets a "200 success" message and a load of response headers, but no payload. Not even the opening <html> tag, let alone far enough in for some advertising JavaScript to be causing the issue.
DOK, hopefully my email helps them track down what's happening on their end; it does have timestamps and my request information. That should allow them to match their log entries... If you can convince them to be inclined to do so, that is!
-
https://support.createaforum.com
If you look at the above forum only one mention of "white out".
There must be hundreds of accounts on the server(s) but only one mention of this problem.
-
I get it on my phone all the tine really annoying
-

I do...
-
I'm using an adblocking browser. Would ads still cause this?
-
I'm using an adblocking browser. Would ads still cause this?
Done it with ads and without -- it seems completely unrelated to pop ups or any user action on the site.
If it happened once you were navigating I'd perhaps understand but it also happens on first arrival on the splash page.
-
AFTER you've cleared your cache/cookies, are people still getting this?
I haven't managed to trigger it in the last 24 hours.
And has anyone using the "edge" browser seen this problem?
-
Get this on edge, chrome, & ie.
Seems to be more prevalent when there is (potentially!) a high volume of posts, views e.g. during games, just after etc - Wonder if its a load balancer issue....????
-
In the menu under where it says "Hello <username>", I've added an option "WAP view". If you can't seem to break out of the white out, try using this or the "Mobile View" option and see if that at least is successful as a workaround.
-
Just got another white-out - I hit CTRL+ALT+refresh and that cleared it.
Chrome / Windows 10
-
I've had a few white-outs today, especially when going back to the /general-discussion/ index. What I've noticed is that if I get a white-out then, go to the url input box, take the forward slash off & hit enter, and it loads okay...
-

Why are you operating your phone with a fork?
-
Just got another white-out - I hit CTRL+ALT+refresh and that cleared it.
Chrome / Windows 10
Normally just closing the window and re-opening it clears it for me.
-
Yes, sometimes simply redoing it seems to work, but other times it happens over and over. It does seem mercifully less common now.
-
I think it might have something to do with ad blockers. I have an ad blocker on Chrome on my Mac at home. Still getting the white-outs there. Started working in the office again this week after a few months of working from home and there's no ad blocker on Chrome on the Mac here - guess what? No issues at all for 3 days. Yet last night it was happening constantly at home...

Scratch this - just had my first one here too. Is someone watching every time we chat about it and triggering it just to p*** us off?
-
I’m using iPhone and Safari browser with no Adblock and still happening today.
I simply hit refresh some 6 times and get in ok.
-
I'm going to give up reading this thread, cos I keep getting white outs!
-
I get them on the desktop but removing the final '/' from the address bar seems to do the trick for me.
-
In the side menu under "Harlequins/Rugby Links" there's an option "ComeAllWithin Board Messages"
This doesn't have the "/" at the end of the link.
So try clicking that and see if it improves things?
Please report back.

Any updates on the "last unread post" button? :)

Any way you can change the "ComeAllWithin Board" link at the bottom just above Quick Reply to lose the "/" as well? This is the link I use to navigate back to the board list most often - as obviously it's right there when you've scrolled to the end of the thread.
-
Also, when you post a new reply it automatically takes you back to the board list with the "/" at the end. If we can lose it on those two then we might be flying.

That's the link I use, although I can't understand why it's only an intermittent problem.
-
What about trying the "Jump to:" at the bottom of each message?
-
Nice to see others have picked up on my earlier suggestion of removing the "/" from the end of the link (see at the top of this page" ;)

You'll turn anything into a word association thread won't you?
;D
-
Just got a white page, went back, clicked on the link in the menu at the side - all good. Can't tell if that's just luck or a solution, but if you get a whiteout can you try that and let us know if the whiteout still occurs.
-

You can shelve that idea.
-
Thats not fair. Now I have to wait 48hrs to respond and at my age my friend that is a lifetime!

Are you saying we don't need to worry about you responding?

I'm wondering if the repeating nature of the whiteouts is to do with the failed page being cached. FF's idea re. removing the slash suggests this because most browsers require an exact case-sensitive match in the cache. I tested this by changing the case of a letter in the URL and that worked too.
That would also explain why clearing the cache only works for a bit, until the next duff page gets served up and cached. It all depends on the caching behaviour set for your browser - I can't change that on my work laptop.
If you set this site to always ask for a fresh page in your browser settings then possibly, although you will still get the odd whiteout, it might not repeat itself.
Caveat - I also thought that the refresh button behaviour should ignore the local cache so this could all be a load of twaddle.

That's possibly the longest post I've ever seen from you!

Taking away the "/" works for me every time. Right said (Fearless) Fred.
Just had a white-out and took the "/" off and it immediately loaded. Previously, hitting refresh with the "/" still in there, it would take a good few mins...
Now is there a way for admin to remove the "/" from all the main links that take you back to the Message Board List and see if that fixes the problem for everyone?
-
Are you saying we don't need to worry about you responding?
I'll let you know in the morning...hopefully.
-
I'll pass the "/" on to the people who run these boards.
In the meantime, in the menu under "Hello User", the one that starts with a yellow "Home" button, I've added an option "Msg Board", that has a link with no "/" on the end. Perhaps you could get in the habit of using that?

Already done so. Awaiting action but IT folks tend to bundle up changes into a release. So we may have to wait for that.
-
Doesn't he go on....
-
And on and on... It's my job! ;D
Thanks you all for your input. The latest message from the support people is "I see the possible issue working on a fix.". So it sounds as if this will be sorted soon. In the meantime, use the "[attachimg=1] Msg Board" option.

And I've reminded them about the "last unread post" button on the mobile view. Hopefully we'll hear something on that soon.
-
Thanks DOK. Can they do anything to fix Deadly? 🙂

Would that be Lily Pink's window?

The support people say this is now fixed. Thank you to all who helped identify the issue (even if it was only disproving some of my more bizarre theories!)
-
Cheers DOK.

Thanks DOK
