Not saying Gustard is lying, but the brevity and tone of the announcement do not suggest lots of love and best wishes going with him ...
Perhaps the use of the past tense in the club statement (i.e. "was a key part of the coaching team last season") tell us all we need to know

That's a bit of a blindside. Hope he's ok, if the stories about him being in bad health are in any way accurate. However our forwards haven't been tearing up trees so maybe no bad thing if we have a decent replacement lined up.

But again — if it was all to do with personal health issues then surely they would have issued a nice, long, appreciative kind of communication to say a huge thank you and so sorry to see you go, our best wishes are with you and your family etc. etc.?

I think people might be reading too much into this. If as PG mentioned, Codling does have health issues, maybe he does not want it out there for everyone to know, maybe he his happy to slide away quietly. Maybe he was just brought in for a short period, do his thing and then go. Maybe we wanted someone else who was not available until after the WC so he stepped in to fill the void till then. Does not have to be cloak and dagger stuff. Coaches come and go. Maybe he has had an offer he cant refuse. No reason to thing there has been a big falling out etc. As said earlier, he never really hangs around anywhere for a great deal of time.
PG said he'd been doing the lineout coaching this season. He said Codling had these health issues and eventually he had to make a decision based on what's best for the club, so I infer that they gave it until about now, but with no sign of improvement they made the tough decision. Perhaps thta's why it looks hurried. He said it was completely amicable parting of the ways. Said he can't coach lineouts indefinitely, he has other jobs, so he's looking for a very experienced coach this time to balance the relative lack of experience in our current coaching team.
How about just wishing him well and hoping he fully recovers from his illness, what ever it may be!
Maybe he does not want it known in the wide world he is ill.
