Just back from the game. Didn’t see the incident at the time but looks like a very petulant stamp. Not going to cause much damage but not good full stop against a defenceless player. Deserves a 4-6 week ban for me.

If he’s found guilty of spitting then he should be banned for the season (I didn’t see that personally). No place in rugby for spitting at another human being.

Stamp doesn’t deserve any further sanction. Was a moronic thing to do but a yellow was the right decision.

Thanks Scamble.

Not sure that is a “natural” action for me (in terms of the potential spit). Combined with the stamp, I’d like to see the club come out and ban him early for this (I’m sure others will disagree).

At least one (maybe two) pretty disgraceful actions. To me this is very different to punching someone face to face which should be a yellow. This is much, much worse and either action has no place in the game. Hopefully he’s at least strong enough to come out and accept he’s made 1/2 errors and accept whatever punishment is given.

If true poor from ward. Definite light step on ankle and earlier neck roll. Spit questionable. Unlikely for a decent bloke.

Disappointed to see this behaviour from someone who’s been a solid part of our club for years.
The spit is questionable, I don’t think it was aimed or maliciously directed towards anyone but the neck roll and stamp/trample is inexcusable and unfortunately deserves a ban. The neck roll, you see him lock his arms together like a head lock, knowing exactly what he was doing. And well the stamp, speaks for itself. Such a shame for what was a delightful result otherwise!

The stamp was a nasty and petty move. Gustard has said that Ward will be spoken to. The spit doesn't look deliberate to me (a la Rijkaard on Voller in 1990!) However, I am sure that Wardy will be encouraged to be honest and confess if he did do it deliberately.

Just watching the game again with a cup of tea. Have to say how proud I am of our boys. So much petty shirt pulling, grabbing and holding off the ball from Wasps. Not a likeable team, by any stretch of the imagination!

It went to TMO. He was yellow carded. End of - unless they find the spit was deliberate (which I seriously doubt)

What a tool, the stamp was stupid enough but there is no place for spitting.

Real shame the Club works so hard to get 80,000 and the headlines in the press all about Dave Ward.

I agree to an extent. It does seem as though there’s a real intention to drive controversy in rugby these days from journos and broadcasters. I think Dave’s stepping on Young’s foot was stupid and that reading between the lines he’ll get a severe ear bending from PG but I think the way the disciplinary process is being driven by the media is a cause for concern.

Neck roll is dangerous but to call it inexcusable is just silly overreaction. Dangerous and illegal play and will be dealt with as it is for all players. Hardly despicable behaviour.

Treading on his ankle is unpleasant and potentially dangerous. Silly niggle, deserved yellow. If people think that's a stamp then they're entitled to their opinion, but they must stamp everywhere they go.

As for the spit, I think it's very questionable. Don't see from the video how you could say either way. If he did intentionally spit then that's foul and inexcusable.

Andy Goode's twitter attack is also inexcusable. He's said before he doesn't like ward. He's s joke and I'd hope marler would steer clear of their pod

I notice a complete lack of anything regarding Mike Brown being taken out in the air from goode, maybe a bit of jealousy that browny can grow his own hair

Of course Mr foode is a Wasps cheer leader,  a certain dayglo (who really shouldn't do commentary on Wasps games) unlikely to mention anything about that. Or the white into Joe Marlers face from a certain CM previously of this parish

Oh and to call that a stamp is ridiculous! Didn't see the spit, other than some stills which don't show any direction or landing of the phlegm. Just it leaving his mouth, while shouting?
